Medicinal Uses of Video Games
There are many people who say that videogames and TV will rot your brain and cause brain damage. Plenty of research and articles are against children playing video games, but there are some that are in favor of video games, and that number is growing every day. Video games can have some medicinal uses from helping patients in physical therapy to improving ones vison. Many people do not see these uses and for every one for video games there are five who are against it, however as that number is slowly growing. When you think of children playing video games you probably think of a child sitting in front of a TV or monitor for hours on end. This is not the case with a lot of games. Now while there may be a fair amount of children who do this there are a lot who know how to moderate their gaming and exercise. Some medical professionals have actually recommend patients to play video games as part of their treatment. Treatment can be very boring for some people especially when it comes to physical therapy. Physical therapy is defined as “Process of doing a group of repetitive exercises in order to regain the range of motion

The patients were instructed to play for no more than two hours a day and by the end of the month patients with not only Amblyopia but Cataracts as well had improvements to their vison. She explains that “With frequent, sudden point-of-view changes and nonstop action, gamers must use an extreme amount of focus to catch every detail. This intense concentration hones the eyes and their muscles, training individuals to use their sharpened sight away from the TV as well.” She continues to explain that FPSs provide an adrenaline rush that also helps with brain plasticity. People who have 20/20 vison can also improve their vision beyond 20/20 if they play
...While there are violent games out there, children could, with the help of their parents, play cleaner games such as The Legend of Zelda or any game in the Mario series, and in the end, be benefited from it. Whether their stress is relieved, their brains stronger, or their connections with their families made unbreakable, video games can truly be a good thing for kids.
Videogames are amazing they promote creativity, team-work and social interaction. Video games actually work to increase how good your eyesight is. One study done by scientist’s Daphne Bavelier and her team found that playing five to fifteen hours of action games (e.g., Call of Duty) a week increased how good the participants vision was in two ways "The first way is that they 're actually able to resolve small detail in the context of clutter… The other way that they are better is actually being able to resolve different levels of grey”. Sure games have violence in them but honestly what doesn’t, films and TV are chock full of it, heck even Tom and Jerry promote violence and animal abuse plus there is a reason that those big shiny red “18” stickers are put on games so that it is clearly shown that children aren 't supposed to be given access to these specific types of game. As for the “waste of time” nothing is really a waste of time if you gain something from it such as
Video games have improved a lot since they were first introduced. They have also made a lot of impacts in our generation by making gamers more social, teaching children through educational video games, and how video games can improve our health. Furthermore, the articles show many different ways that proves that video games aren’t bad for you physically and emotionally. Since video games were introduced they have changed our society.
Video games, in conclusion, are not harmful for young adults. The theories behind all the selfish acts should not have been led to video games. These games are good for young adults and can help development. Do you want to prohibit your child from learning lifelong skills?
Another reason that video games are bad for children is because it can cause injuries towards the person physically as well as mentally. It can cause auditory hallucinations, enuresis, encopresis, wrist pain, neck pain, elbow pain, tenosynovitis, hand arm vibration syndrome, repetitive strain injuries, peripheral neuropathy, and even obesity (NCBI. US. National Library of Medicine). Tests have shown that as you get older the more video games you play the less ability you have to multitask while playing games. As well as not being able to multitask, video games distract players from the sensation of pain, so in theory a child could have a severe injury and not even know about it which could cause the...

Video games are said to be harmful for the mental and physical health of adults and children, but games can also be beneficial, depending on how they reflect what they learned while playing unto their lives.
There have been so many experiments and studies to try and figure out if video games have a negative or positive effect on our children. A growing body of research is linking violent video game play to aggressive cognitive, attitudes and behaviors (D.A. Gentile, 2004). The 'Path of the 'Path of the 'Path of the 'Path of the 'Path of the 'Path of the 'Path of the 'Path of Video games can obviously be dangerous for our children, causing aggression, bad performances in school and obesity. Although we cant blame all of these problems on the use of video games, there have been many studies to prove so.... ...

The author provides examples of how it has negatively affected an individual’s health such as muscle pain, seizures, obesity, aggressive behavior, poor grades, lack of vitamin D, changes in appearance, sleep deprivation, and attention problems. This source is credible because it demonstrated the popular belief of negative effects of playing video games while providing sources of where the author got their information. The weakness of this source is that some of the problems can easily be solved by management skills such as working out from time to time to reduce
This is a very important topic to me because I myself used to be absorbed in video games, and through those hours wasted I have accomplished nothing. I am hoping that through this project I may be able to open the stubborn eyes of the public and possibly convert just one person into finding an alternative to their excessive gaming. What I really wanted to learn through this research project is some of the specific neurological and psychological impacts of playing videogames, for both an instantaneous amount of time and a prolonged amount of time. I also wanted to discover whether or not video gaming could cause any physical impacts. I already know a great deal about video games because I have always been quite the connoisseur of Nintendo licensed products. I have played a wide range of genres of videogames, from Halo to Mario Kart to Pokémon to Grand Theft Auto. They are very entertaining and it is easy to get lost in them for hours. Some of the questions I wanted answered are as follows: are video games addictive? Do video games have the capability to have deep psychological impacts? Can someone actually die from playing video games? These are only a few of the questions I had buzzing ...
In households with children, sixty seven percent of them own a video game system. The game industry’s worldwide video game annual sales reached over 25 billion at the end of 2004. So the concern for the health of video game players is increasing. Video games have many different effects on the health of people. Some experiments have found video games to have a dramatic effect, while other experiments have found them to have little or no effect at all. While some video games have even been found to help people take their minds off their problems and deal with their stress, other people have had the opposite reactions to the games.
One can argue that video games are simply no good because they keep children from engaging in physical activity which can be detrimental to a youth’s health but regardless of this, video games can have a positive effect on children. One of the most positive effects of video games is increasing the dexterity of a child and improving his or her hand-eye coordination. Today’s video games and consoles that are being released are very complex and involve the movement of different...
Video games are not considered as a serious addiction amongst teenagers and adults, often being compared to severe cases of addiction, such as drug abuse or alcohol abuse that may result in the appearance of a decrease in the severity of the addiction. However, video game addiction is a serious matter and has unhealthy consequences for an individual 's life and their health; spending too much time playing video games can take a great toll on one 's physical and mental well-being. Continuing unhealthy patterns of video game activity for prolonged periods of time can result in mental health issues, physical health problems, and a decline in a social life.
Video game have been claimed as addictive, a waste of time, and a distraction. While this does apply to some people, others have found the benefits to playing video games. These benefits include simulating working environments, helping people escape working environments, and giving great experiences. Although these benefits seems to be beneficial, it still stands that video games are a waste of time in which other things can be more productive.
