“I always think of it in terms of music. You’re not always going to be a huge rock star in music, but musicians can play until the day they die. With sports, it’s different. You can’t always do it until the very end, and that’s a hard reality of sports. The blessings wrestling has given me have allowed me to find some new passions, but it’s really hard when you’ve got that first love and nothing really replaces it,” Daniel Bryan said in a interview with Sports Illustrated. As he was saying this Daniel was confronting on the reported rumors on his return to in-ring action as wrestler as oppose to his current role in World Wrestling Entertainment. For some background into the story, Daniel Bryan was the world’s number one professional until he was forced to retire from wrestling in the WWE. The key word to emphasize is “forced” …show more content…
If the injury is severe then it will cause the wrestler to be taken out of action it and can affect the entire show by disrupting a written storyline. The “bookers,” who write the storylines, find a replacement to attempt to continue the storyline or its scraped. A present example; a wrestler by the name Samoa Joe was planned to feud with well known John Cena from January up to WrestleMania in early April, due to a right foot injury Joe missed the recent Pay-Per-View Elimination Chamber and was replaced by Elias Samson. Joe will be out on Wrestlemania and since this change in script, Elias gained more popularity due to more live camera time with the audience and is now on of the most “over” acts in WWE today. Over meaning popular with the live audience. (1) One’s loss could be another’s gain, but for every injury, is always disheartening. In WWE the company pays for the superstar’s surgery and rehab in order to attempt to bring back the superstar into the ring as soon as possible. Which leads back to Daniel Bryan’s force
Wrestlers would be away from their family for the majority of the year. They would only return home when and if they were injured. Former wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper has been mentally affected by everything at once .According to Piper, "I experienced what we in the profession call the silent scream” (Behind Fun Façade…). The silence scream involves loneliness, drugs and pain. It has been overwhelming for wrestlers, mentally and physically to be able to accept everything that was going on in and out of the ring. The amount of pain that the wrestlers were in physically affected them mentally.
I have many things that I love in this life, one of those things is wrestling. I have been wrestling for seven years and I have developed quite the passion and love for it. Wrestling has always been an interesting sport for me. Growing up in Oregon I watched my uncles wrestle in high school. I watched both of them win their state tournament in their respective weight classes, this is one of my fondest memories of my childhood. One of them went on to wrestle division one, I thought this was the coolest thing in the world. I looked up to my uncles and wanted to be just like them. I did not always wrestle though. The process of pursing my dream as of becoming a wrestler started of with basketball, then went to a rocky start, then being on Worland High School wrestling team.
There have been some instances where people have gotten hurt and even died from a stunt gone bad. There was an instance about half a year ago when a professional wrestler named Owen Hart was repelling from the rafters on a cable and the piece that was attached to his harness snapped and he plummeted 40 feet broke his neck and died. This was a tragic loss to every wrestler and to the whole WWF world. If this isn’t real you wouldn’t know what was. Another example of reality is when Stone Cold Steve Austin was being suplexed (a professional wrestling move when your opponent lifts you in the air and slams you into the mat), his opponent landed Austin wrong on the mat. This resulted in a career ending surgery for Steve Austin. One thing that wrestling has done over the past couple of years is raised media uproar pertaining to violence at home between children.
... millions watching around the world. Hart fell from rafters 40 feet above the ring, hitting his head on a turnbuckle on the way down and snapping his neck. He died on impact, during what was a common way for him to enter the ring as his "Blue Blazer" persona. Knee and back injuries plague wrestlers from Hulk Hogan to Steve Austin and all the way down, and always have. Pro wrestling is just as dangerous as pro football. And wrestlers get paid a whole lot less, on average.
This memo is to address the current conversation regarding the possible termination of the sport of wrestling in the upcoming Olympic Games. By examining the significant history of wrestling in the Olympics we can comprehend why so many people are passionate about the sport. Wrestling, being a non-revenue sport, does not have the same financial benefits as professional sports. Regardless, the sport still has a substantial fan base and should be continued.
During a wrestling match, you are using all of your previous knowledge of the moves you have been practicing over and over. On top of that you need to have the mental mind set that you are gonna win. You may think it is easy because it's only a six minute match, but all the blood, sweat and tears that us wrestlers put in for those six minutes, may be the happiest or saddest experience of our life. We spend hours a day working with our coaches to make sure our technique is close to perfection as it can get. Most likely, you will win or lose a match on how well conditioned you are. We will usually wrestle a twelve minute match in practice, so that six minute match feels like nothing. Even with the time and effort you put in this sport, they will always be someone who might be just a little better.
The drive to compete can encourage wrestlers to lose weight, whether or not they have excessive body fat (Perriello 58). The major motivation for wrestlers to lose weight is the hope of achieving greater success at a lower weight class. According to Vito Perriello, “the perception may be based on the myth that wrestling at a lower weight for the same height improves leverage and provides an advantage over one’s opponent.”(58). Another reason wrestlers may drop to a lower weight class is to avoid competing against a wrestler in the athlete’s more natural weight who is significantly better or to help the team fill an empty spot. Although most wrestlers like to try and lose weight, there is no reason to believe that wrestling performance will improve simply by losing weight (Wrestling Nutrition and Weight Control). A major reason wrestlers decide to drop a weight class is because they believe they will be stronger and they may need to avoid tougher
It is rather, a fight. A fight in which each combatant must push their-self to
Rodeo, one might ask...what is a rodeo? A rodeo is an event or competition where cowboys and cowgirls show off their skills with and around animals. Rodeos are competitions between cowgirls and cowboys to see who can rope and ride the best. The judges will time the events and whoever has the shortest time or meets certain time limits is the winner and will get prizes or money. Rodeo isn’t just a competition and form of entertainment, it is a sport and a career. For some people rodeo is the only thing they do and that’s how they’re making a living for the family. Rodeos in the United States are a positive and safe form of entertainment for families to enjoy because rodeos do not abuse, but care for and provide treatment for animals and participants.
Wrestling is the hardest sport both physically and mentally. The constant management of weight is what kills me the most, I can take all the cheap shots from opponents and the slams down onto the mat but the cutting weight part is the worst. It was the day before a tournament and I was 14 pounds over the weight I was going to wrestle that weekend. I had to lose it, so i did. I ran with layers of clothing on all night long and I didn 't eat or drink anything for two days, I made myself freeze at night so my body would burn more calories to keep me warm, me and friends drilled for hours to help me shed those final pounds. I went through hell and yet not one person tried to stop me or check to see if i was physically okay. They cared about the medal i was going to get that weekend rather than the fact that i was on the verge of dehydration and malnourishment. People should consider the mental and physical health problems wrestling has on a person such as dehydration, excessive weight loss, going days without eating, and the breakage of a person’s will, however all they think about is the titles and the medals they will receive if they can just make that weigh in.
Recovering from an injury can indeed be a difficult process and athletes must wait for however long in able to play the sport again. During that duration of time, the idea of waiting and not performing can sometimes cause an athlete to feel angry, to be in denial, and
Some of us feel as if we need to follow the unwritten rules of life which include working at a well-paid job, owning a home, getting married and having children. But, there are those who prefer to do what makes them happy and live by their own rules. Those people, like Bruno, feel stuck and miserable when they neglect their happiness. The only time the audience ever saw him happy was when he was back in the ring wresting again. Wrestling gives him a purpose and he doesn't want to lose that.
Furthermore, for as low a score as Danielson apparently received on a WWE “ambition test”, his true goal – beyond money, fame, or television exposure – was to be one of the very best wrestlers in the world – a goal that many would agree has been met many times over. But, beyond his working legacy, numerous changes within WWE and the business at large, both present and future, owe their existence to Bryan. It was CM Punk's original success that opened the door for him, but Danielson with his winning personality, work ethic, real life underdog story, and working ability aided in a further widening of the corridor between the independents and WWE. Further still, his retirement itself is the first in a possible series of reforms, which could alter the way in which American wrestling is presented, worked, and evaluated.
When they see the wrestlers they are so much bigger than they thought. The wrestlers have big and powerful wrestlers. They are always in top condition. The smaller wrestlers still have muscles but they are not as powerful as the bigger ones. The smaller wrestlers rely on their speed to win their matches.
Daniel can only blame himself for the consequences he was forced to deal with He was an accident waiting to happen. Drinking and anger led to two deaths and one severely injured. Daniel’s actions had far reaching consequences that affected many people. No one more so than his cousin Fin. Fin’s life had been altered forever . No rugby, no freedom, nothing but a life of a quadriplegic unable to do the simplest of tasks.
