Industrial Revolutions vs. Political Revolutions in History In considering whether industrial revolutions or political revolutions have had the greater impact upon history, one must understand the true nature of the question. Does it refer to instantaneous impact upon society? Does it refer to one's perceptions of historical importance? Does it mean to uncover which has made the most drastic change for humanity as a whole? Surely each of these options is viable in answering the question posed. However, neither "industrial revolution" nor "political revolution" is the best of all possible answers for these questions. Thus, one must consider the matter to a greater depth. In reference to the first question-the instantaneous results of a revolution-political revolutions are more important to history. As a certain history teacher at Delran High School pointed out, the newspaper headlines of 1794 may be used as an example of this. What did they read? The newest developments during the Reign of Terror, a title assigned to a period during the French Revolution. No one sat down to their breakfast and read about Eli Whitney patenting the cotton gin, nor did intellectuals discuss it in their social clubs, nor did monarchs and legislatures consider its ramifications. Additionally, Britain, Russia, Prussia, and other major nations watched the American Civil War with great interest, yet one doubts any of them gave nearly as much attention to Cyrus McCormick's steel plow. By these means, one must determine political revolutions more important to history. The second question posed asks of one's perception of historical importance. This i... ... middle of paper ... ...o history. Industrial revolution has changed the way humans live: how they travel, communicate, work, eat, and even think. Political revolution changes the way humans vote and pay taxes. A modern human sent centuries back in time would be more concerned with the lack of what is now considered necessity-medicine, waste disposal, et cetera-or the sight of lepers, than the identity of his fief lord, Consul, or parliamentary representative. Though a political revolution is certainly more sensationalistic, in the long run, all government is interchangeable; as the British rock group The Who once put it, "What about the new boss? The same as the old boss," or, if one prefers German philosophy, einstürzende neubauten. On the other hand, it is because of industrial revolution that humans exist in the state they do today.
The Industrial Revolution has brought a major transformation to the American society. New technologies and advancements changed the way Americans viewed their world. Gender issues, social class, immigration, relations with Native Americans, and slavery were either positively or negatively impacted by the revolution. Nevertheless, the United States’ huge step toward progress during the Industrial Revolution made a lasting impression in American society.
The Industrial Revolution is considered one of the most important events in American history. The rapid advancement in humans have allowed us to create sophisticated machines that make our daily tasks faster and easier. Many inventions were created during the 1820-1870 timeline and the Cotton Gin, Railroad and the Assembly line were one of the major players in American history. Many events don’t even come close to this important timeline. The Industrial Revolution was the time that shaped American history because of the Cotton Gin, Railroad, and the assembly line. Help us advance forward.
The industrial revolution was the most important, which started around the eighteenth century towards the nineteenth century in Europe. This great event was the fastest spreading event in human history. The capacity of economy and population growth was unexpected especially at the areas in which it flourished. The industrial revolution benefited almost everyone around the world and brought about new social classes, large cities and many new innovations including medical discoveries especially in Britain as it based it is scientific innovations on experiments and practical work rather than theories and logic.
Throughout history there have been many important revolutions that have help to shape society as it is today. There are different causes, from political to religious, economic to social. Any revolution affects those in society, and creates changes for the people in the society. There are three important revolutions that took place in the late 18th century that changed the world for the better. The French Revolution, the American Revolution, and the Industrial Revolution all took place in the late 1700s. Although each had a different purpose, they all lead to a better way of life for many. The French and American Revolutions are examples of some which are brought about and enforced solely by the people. Although they had different reasons behind them, both had the same idea behind them- social change. The Industrial Revolution was different, it was a technological revolution which had positive social outcomes. While one can easily compare the French and American Revolutions because of their social causes and outcomes, the Industrial Revolution can only be compared to the other two when examining their outcomes.
Peter Stearns claims that the industrial revolution was an intensely human experience. What initially arose as scientific advancements in metallurgy and machine building, the industrial revolution period saw a redefinition of life as a whole. As industry changed, human life began to adapt. Work life was drastically changed which, in turn, resulted in family life being affected. As is human nature, major change was met with great resistant. Ultimately, the most successful people during the transition were those that adapted quickly.
The Industrial revolution was a time of drastic change marked by the general introduction of power-driven machinery. This change generally helped life, but it had its disadvantages as well. Pollution, such as Carbon Dioxide levels in the atmosphere rose, working conditions declined, and the number of women and children working increased. The government, the arts, literature, music, architecture and man's way of looking at life all changed during this period. Two revolutions took place.
The Industrial Revolutions, spurred by technological innovation and the discoveries of new materials, created new industries. One of the first to be mechanized is the textile industry. From James Hargreaves’ creation of the spinning jenny, workers, mainly women, were able to mass produce goods from home. Thus, the cottage industry was born. However, with the development of Richard Arkwright’s water frame, John Kay’s flying shuttle, and Edmund Cartwright’s power loom, factories soon replaced the domestic system and the women who lost their jobs now moved to the factories. Nevertheless, the factories were very successful due to high demand and cheap cotton sources in the Americas and in India. Ironically, American cotton was the product of slavery, which the British had banned in 1838.
In conclusion, the Industrial Revolution had profoundly impacted Europe in the 18th century. The Industrial Revolution also had considerable impact upon the nature of work, people, geography, and technology. It significantly changed the daily lives of ordinary men, women, and children. All of these factors came together in the late 18th century to create the unique conditions in England that culminated in the first-ever Industrial Revolution.

This paper intends to compare the first industrial revolution of the 17th and 18th centuries and the second industrial revolution of the mid-18th and 19th centuries. It will highlight the transformation from the first revolution to the second revolution, focusing on the presence of giant firms and role of science and technology in economic activities. Additionally, it will introduce the two worldly philosophers Karl Marx and Adam Smith on these issues.
“Revolutions are the locomotives of history” (Karl Marx). The concept of how far we’ve progressed in the past couple of centuries is hard to grasp. A revolution is defined as an instance of revolving and I think this quote from Karl Marx sums up the significance of revolutions in relevance to us as the human race; they pull us forward and allow us to progress. It’s whether or not these progressions are beneficial or not that makes or breaks the usefulness of a revolution. Although the industrial revolution in Britain had its ups and downs, it ultimately paved the road for Britain to become the world power it is today. There is much discussion about how, or why, the Industrial revolution started in Britain. I contribute this to three main attributes of Britain; the scientific and agricultural revolution, the cheap energy economy, and their social structure.

There were many revolutions that happened throughout the world. The one that really shaped modern day society was the Industrial Revolution in Britain during the 18th and 19th centuries. It changed the whole of Britain and would later change the world. Despite the early social problems of child labour and sanitation created by the Industrial Revolution, its long-term social reforms including the Factory Act and the Public Health Act outweighed the short-term issues encountered. All over Britain, new factories were being built and with them, the demand for workers increased.

Changes that occurred in the fields of medicine and chemistry still play a role in our everyday lives. These advancements not only affected 19th century industry, but also began paving the way for modern technology.

One can feel that both of these revolutions mutually reinforced each other and later became the backbone of all other revolutions. On the other hand, both revolutions had totally different impacts and consequences in various economic, political and social realms.
