Individual Learning Styles
The purpose of this research paper is to examine learning styles theories to determine if teaching students to use their own particular learning style can help ail them in increased educational success. The learning style aspect consists of six key areas including brain processing, sensory modalities, physical needs, environmental preferences, social aspects, and attitudes. Besides the way a person operates, there are two other important factors that play a key role in effecting a person?s learning style. These important factors include each individuals learning patterns and a theory known as multiple intelligences. Individual learning patterns are focused on four main types ES, IN, EN and the IS. The theory of multiple intelligences is based on eight types of intelligences, these include visual/spatial, verbal/linguistic, Logical/mathematical, bodily/kinesthetic, Musical/rhythmic, interpersonal intelligence, and finally naturalist.
It is very important to understand and explore each individuals learning style. Analyzing one?s own particular learning style can be very helpful and beneficial to the student by aiding them in becoming more focused and an attentive learner, which ultimately will increase educational success. (Fatt, Teng, 2000). Discovering this learning style will allow the student to determine his or her own personal strengths and weaknesses and learn from them. Aside from that, this process will improve one?s self esteem because now the student will feel more comfortable and prepared to take on the learning challenge, also gives student the confidence needed to achieve their goals (Creative Learning Company, 2001). A true saying is “Colonization often does more damage than contribution.” Colonialism encouraged Africa’s development in some areas, but in many others it severely damaged the natural progress of the continent. If colonialism was never imposed on Africa, Africa’s developments would be significantly different and many of the problems that the continent faces now would not exist today. In conclusion, at first it seems that colonialism has both positive and negative effects, but the truth is it only damages the colonized nation.
In conclusion, Odysseus conveys the qualities of a true hero, He shows fortitude, bravery and he portrays qualities of management. Odysseus shows these qualities throughout the journey in which he faced many challenging people and places. However, Odysseus overcomes each and every one by having only one set goal: to get home. As long as he reached that goal, nothing could stop him. Like a true hero, Odysseus never lost these traits, no matter how bad of a mess he was in.

A. Adu Boehen, one of Africa 's leading historian traces the colonial experience in Africa from an African perspective that is, through the eyes of an African and not the Europeans. He further looked at the period of African History from the 1880 's to the 1900 's hundreds when most of Africa was seized and occupy by the imperial powers of Europe. Boehen also offers a view of the crucial question of how Africans perceived colonialism, how they responded to it and above all how they reacted after they were colonized.
And there is a four-type definition of learning styles: 1. Accommodators (CE/AE) 2. Divergers (CE/RO) 3. Assimilators (AC/RO) 4. Convergers (AC/AE)
Learning is defined as a permanent change in attitude or behaviour that occurs as a result of repeated experience (Sims & Sims, 1995). Understanding one’s learning style has many advantages as it can help one to identify the learning method or activities that can help to optimise the learning experience. It has been suggested that the importance of one’s learning style has been identified through studies and research on how one can maximise the potential for success and further learning development (Honey & Mumford, 2006). Learning styles are unique to each individual and are developed in childhood (Chase, 2001). We all have different personalities; therefore we all have preferred learning styles that suit us best. The way one learns depends on preference. Some learn by observing, listening and imitating others and draw conclusions from their experience. There are several factors that affect our learning style; for example, background, culture, religion and environment can have a major influence on one’s learning.
They are stripped of basic pleasures, and often lose those that they love and hold close. This happens to Odysseus on several occasions throughout the entirety of the story. With regards to the great suffering that Odysseus must endure, the first case presents itself while he is on Calypso’s island. Though he, nor his men, face any considerable danger, his is very unhappy with the situation at hand. He has been forced to remain on the island for several years, and one can blatantly see that he desperately misses his home and family. Homer (2009) makes this apparent within the way Odysseus speaks to the goddess, saying, “My quiet Penelope – how well I know - … I long for home, long for the sight of home.” (p.718) Moreover, the reader can clearly see the onslaught of unfortunate events that Odysseus must face once more when he visits the land of the dead; here he learns that his mother has committed suicide in his absence. One can see the anguish he truly feels when looking back at Homer’s (2009) Odyssey, “He also sees his mother…she has died. Through his tears, he holds the spirits back.” (p. 746) Dolefully so, Odysseus is unable to return to Ithica as soon as he would have liked. Of course, several similar encounters follow this, further proving that Odysseus has dealt with more than his fair share of tragedy. In addition to this, after Odysseus has finally been released from Calypso’s grasp, misfortune strikes once more. It is rather clear that Odysseus cares deeply for his men. This was clearly painted for the reader while Odysseus and his crew were on Circe’s island; a few of his men had been morphed into swine, and Odysseus refused to eat or drink until he had been assured that his men were safe. However, this is not what one must look to when seeking proof that Odysseus has been hit with an onslaught of disaster; for this, one must look to the events that took place on Helios’ island.
Abraham Lincoln: The Great Emancipator, a man raised from humble origins, top hat, sixteenth President of the United States, Preserver of the Union, and a common man; throughout the entirety of the semester, we saw these stereotypes of President Lincoln in the readings and films we watched each week. Once we delved further into the semester, however, we learned that these stereotypes were a direct result of the slanted sense of historical memory that we were taught in our history books. Learning styles are how individuals approach learning new concepts based on their strengths, weaknesses, and preferences. Acquiring and being aware of your learning styles is beneficial to accurately processing information that could be used for intellectual growth. Furthermore, learning styles are a part of how humans function and receive information from their world, so not being properly informed about this concept could bloom confusion, dysfunction, and chaos in society. Each learning style has a different goal and approach in interpreting information based on each individual’s abilities and should be regarded as being such. In this essay I will be describing various types of learning styles and stating the advantages and disadvantages of these learning styles. I will also inform you of the most commonly used method of finding out your own learning style, and I will inform you of the man who made this method. Finally, I will write about my own preferred learning styles and the strengths and weaknesses of the different learning styles.
An overwhelming majority of African nations has reclaimed their independence from their European mother countries. This did not stop the Europeans from leaving a permanent mark on the continent however. European colonialism has shaped modern-day Africa, a considerable amount for the worse, but also some for the better. Including these positive and negative effects, colonialism has also touched much of Africa’s history and culture especially in recent years.
Personal learning styles are highly complex and unique to specific individuals. It is often difficult to pinpoint an exact learning style. Though there are different categories, we often fine tune them to our own abilities. By examining our traits and tendencies we create a clearer understanding of how we process and learn information. With careful review, I have developed a specific analysis of my learning characteristics, including an evaluation of skill levels. Based on what I have recently learned and know from experience, I have also devised a structured plan for improvement of time management and study skills.

Thought out our lives, we are faced with many different learning experiences. Some of these experiences have made a better impact than others. This can be attributed to everyone’s different multiple intelligences or learning styles. A persons learning style is the method though which they gain information about their environment. As a teacher, it is our responsibility to know these styles, so we can reach each of our students and use all of the necessary methods.
