The functions they perform are varied in nature and thus they have to be on their toes all the time. Excessive work load affects their health. Some of the police persons succumb to smoking and drinking to release their work pressure. If they are not leading a healthy life it’s impossible for them to give their best to this profession.
The following are some of the recommendations which may be taken into consideration.
• The police should be equipped with latest equipments and armaments. Their training methods should be updated from time to time.
• The Indian Police Act, 1861, as modified in 1912 has become outdated and obsolete. With the developing society, the act should be renewed or reviewed to meet the needs of the present day.
