Discourse analysis can simply be referred to as linguistic analysis. The term "Discourse" points a finger to a focus of study in the field of social sciences and humanities. In this regard, it should be noted here that the origin of the word is related to the Latin word “Discursus”, which means dialog or conversation. In linguistics, however, discourse refers to an element of language that is longer than a single sentence (Burchill). Discourse analysis is the study of how words are used in any context of communication, whether it be written, verbal, or signs. A simple questioning framework can be developed to describe discourse analysis. The framework includes asking questions such as: what is the purpose of the discourse? What kind of people are involved in the data? What is the impact of these words? And what is the most powerful discourse and why? Discourse analysis is constitutive and promotes the interest of a group. We can take the word “LAW” for example. Discourse analysis says that the word “Law” is not impartial as it is claimed. Any language or sentence constructed with the word law can either have good or bad meaning depending on its use. It also states the pragmatic reality of verbal communication. For example, discourse analysis says that the use of the word "Countryside" also describes that there is an existence of a city in that scenario. As a result, by saying "I live in the countryside" I can also mean that I am referring to a place that also has a city in the region. Both words have a semiotic relationship where one’s existence is not possible without the other. So, Discourse Analysis also discusses the opposite reality of a language.
