It runs through my veins and I cannot live without it. For a long time I did not know who I was but one day, through a basketball camp, a coach helped me realize what my identity was. He helped me figure out that i am a child of God. All my uncles played basketball along with both of my Grandfathers. For a long time I thought that basketball had to be the only thing to define me but, it does not.
Michael Jordan once said “I will not let anything get in the way of me and my competitive enthusiasm to win”. This have help people of all ages get through their burdens and do something they love instead of doing some negative. For many people basketball has become more than a game, it’s the way of life. The American game of basketball has traveled now, it’s played by more than 250 million people worldwide.
I play basketball, not only because it gives me a source of exercise, but it also allows me to be engaged in a competitive atmosphere again. To play basketball, you start knowing little and learn from your coach a lot more. It is important to learn how the game works from the different techniques of the game to the rules, goals, and communication that come with the game of basketball.
Throughout my life sports had always had a huge impact on me.I have been playing baseball since I was 5 years old. In high school I have played baseball all 4 of my years being at Watsonville High. Playing sports at school gives you the experience of making new friends and having fun playing the sport you love and representing your school. I have also noticed that playing a sport during school also gives you the stamina to keep your grades up because you want to be able to play the sport you love. Playing baseball in high school will help you improve because you practice almost everyday and you are constantly trying your hardest. I have contributed a lot to my team because I am always going to practice trying to get better. I also know that
I have throughout my whole life been playing sports. I still play basketball competitively and now it’s at the university level. Basketball though was not my first love when it came to playing sports. It has though become my true focus since junior high school. Coming from Canada everybody plays hockey. Its almost as if as soon as you learn to walk you learn how to skate. Whether it is at the recreation centre or at the shinny rink around the corner everyone plays. Eventually I abandoned hockey to play basketball which I have done so for the last twelve years of my life and hopefully a few more years into the future.
In conclusion, it can be stated that basketball is a sport that has a positive influence on individuals from a tender age right through their adulthood. The sport has improved the overall behavior and performance of young adults, teaches them teamwork and persistence. Basketball also brings unity in communities and races alike, and has a constructive influence on the economy as a whole.
Participating in sports really benefited me in so many ways. I learned how to work with others to make similar goals, and use teamwork to reach those goals. Softball has shaped me into a leader who can communicate with all types of people and listen to what everyone has to say. I gained the mentality of hard work and determination. Also I learned how to be competitive to achieve what I want.
Being part of the basketball clique in high school helped me learn the intrapersonal and social communication skills I use today. As a child playing basketball was my favorite activity or hobby. It's also the way I met a lot of my good friends that I have now. All my close friends I have met. I have met them through playing basketball.. Whether they were on my team, the opposing team or just fans in the crowd who admired my play. Not only has basketball helped me gain friends, but basketball also taught me a lot about life. There are many aspects of life that coincide with basketball. For instance basketball is a team game and an individual game. Like in life you have to work together with other people. The communication skills I learned from basketball helped me communicate with friends, girlfriends, parents and bosses at work.
Basketball kept me and my friends connected we watch it and play it whenever we get the opportunity.
Sports also greatly increase how you think of yourself. Imagine how great it would feel if you scored a touchdown, or hit a homerun. These are the things that inspire kids to do something amazing with their life. Some kids think that just because they’re on the team they are not needed because of other great players. But Kareem Abdul Jabbar, a famous basketball player, disagrees.
I love the sport of basketball with all my heart. Basketball literally is my life. My life completely revolves around basketball. Everything about it just makes me feel as if I am at peace. I love every aspect of the sport. I love the discipline needed, the IQ needed, the technique, just how everything coexist in each other. Without any of the things mentioned before basketball wouldn’t be what it is and if it were different I probably wouldn’t feel the same. I’ve been playing basketball for a long time now and I have been learning what is needed to succeed and excel at basketball. I have had many coaches that have taught me how to play the game of basketball very well. I appreciate them doing that because I wouldn’t be where I am today and
When discussing the physical impact basketball has had on my life, I will not hesitate to state that, I used to be overweight, but now I have a normal weight. Due to the vigorous exercises we did during the game, I was able to develop physical fitness and better shape. I understood what my body could do and had been able to maintain this ability. Therefore, establishing a lifelong habit for good health.
Basketball became an important thread in my life and eventually proved to help guide the decisions I made for my future. I had to do a lot of hard work in the beginning, but it was worth it because it paved the way for me to have the opportunity to play at the college level. When practices are hard now and the demands of being a college athlete seem overwhelming, thinking back to my earliest basketball memories gives me happiness and keeps me going.
If you were to ask my friends what I love to do, my guess is that the majority of them would come up with this reply, "He loves to play sports". Sports are a big part of my life, and if I had to choose my favorite sport to play it would have to be basketball. I couldn't imagine going a week without being able to touch a basketball, and I thought I would never have to. But on one summer afternoon, that all changed when I broke my leg. It left me on crutches for two months, and not being able to play basketball all that summer. At first I thought it wouldn't be so bad, getting all the attention and sympathy from everyone. However, after one game I soon realized that I would do just about anything to get rid of those horrible crutches and get back on the court.
Over twenty-six million American children play basketball. Basketball is the most productive sport for children because it enhances health factors, improves grades in school, and develops self-image. I would recommend that all people of any age play basketball, for fun or competition.
