Ever since I can remember, I have always dreamt of a career in medicine. I have always had a passion of saving others people's lives. Being a doctor is meant for me because I love taking the time throughout my day to make a difference in people's lives. I am willing to further my education for an extended amount of time just to fulfill my dreams of becoming a doctor. My grandmother, who has been suffering from Cancer for 3 years is recovering from therapy. Even though, she experiences skin problems frequently, the doctors are still doing everything in their power to help her recover. Her hair have started to grow back and she is back to her normal self. This is one of the reasons why I want to be a doctor. My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from an innate desire to help people and care for them in times of need. I am also a person who thrives on being challenged and I always have new goals to achieve, so nursing suits me as few other careers offer as much diversity and learning opportunities so, attending Virginia Commonwealth University is something that has been my desire for the longest. The intentions that I have for when I become a nurse practitioner are to aid and care for the sick, as well as I am able but also to assist doctors and staff as well as I am capable.
Growing up, I have always wanted to be a part of the healthcare field, but I never knew exactly what job I wanted to take part in, until I discovered how broad a nurse’s specialty could be. A Registered Nurse can work in any age group or focus on a certain system of the body. My mother works in the health field as a medical transcriptionist. I became interested in the health field by her many stories she shared with me while she worked in the hospital. She taught me a lot of different things. My family history inspired me as well to join the medical field. My grandma and great grandma both suffered from breast cancer and my grandpa suffered from throat cancer. Becoming a Registered Nurse has been my dream for as long as I can remember. This dream became real to me when my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in her life. I now have what drives me to be a Registered Nurse and to learn more about the career itself so I can help people out live all the odds against them.
One credential that aligns with the type of job I’m seeking would be a certified medical office assistant. As a medical office assistant (MOA), I would be the first point of communication between patient and office, and I will be the one to set the tone for the patient’s experience. In addition to managing patients, MOAs also work behind the sections to organize appointments, lab test examinations, bring charts up to date, handle insurance repayments and other functions that may keep a medical office successively efficiently. A career that allows you to help mankind and help people survive in a world filled with diseases and harmful bacteria must be a true blessing. Enriching lives of others would not only benefit them, but would bring a deeper meaning into my life. If I had the chance to choose any career I wanted, why not choose a career that will introduce me to new patients and cases that I had to critically think to find the best care to help them recover? Being able to take care of people is something that I wanted to do as a job when I was a child. As a child my parents bought me toy doctor kit. My father has been a diabetic since he was a kid and I would always do a check up with my toys and I always said he would be okay. I 've always been interested in healthcare since I was a young boy because I would be able to take care of and help people who are ill. Throughout this past year when my father was in the nursing home and in the hospital, I would learn what was going on with my dad from a medical level and then talking to him he would not be able to understand due to his dementia and I would be able to explain things to him so he could understand. The aspect of everything going on and talking to him about so he would not be more worried or upset made him feel more better and relaxed. Having the ability to do that with the patients I come in contact with each day is very rewarding to do that each and everyday. Seven years ago, when I decided to enter the school of medicine, my dream was to be able to help people, to take responsibility of their health so they can live their lives and achieve their dreams. Having always been fascinated by science, pursuing this interest and practicing medicine became a passion to me.
Medicine is a ever changing field. A field where new and innovative treatments replace the old. For me, medicine is a career which allows the exploration of the intricacies of the human body. It provides the opportunity to better understand how the human body works and defends itself. As it acts as an ecosystem housing chemical, cells and microbial in order to maintain equilibrium. Along with making an impact on peoples' lives with my caring personality. Becoming a physician would allow me to be directly involved in the care of those who were in need, while concurrently provide affinity for lifelong learning. The combination of my curiosity and will to practice medicine has motivated me to pursue this field.

Medicine is a very complex and interesting felid, it 's constantly changing with the new advancements being made all the time. My interest in medicine came at a young age from going to various doctor’s appointments for myself and family members. I found it fascinating how doctors took care of people. I also enjoyed the interaction between the doctor and patient, whether it was a positive or negative interaction.I was very inspired by doctors and wanted to be like them. But I didn’t fully consider a career in medicine until I began high school.
Striving to help any person in need that crosses my path is my goal in life because I love giving back to my community and interacting with new faces. My desire is to one day have a PHD as a General surgeon; this career is an important factor in today’s society because as a General surgeon a person focuses on the abdominal contents of a person’s body. Without General surgeons, many people that are in need of abdominal surgeries would most likely end up with horrible pain all their life or even worst ended up dead. A general surgeon has the potential to change not only their patient’s life, but the lives of the patient’s family. General surgeons give people of today’s world a fighting chance to not only live longer, but see life in a different view and appreciate it more. The career of a General Surgeon plays an important role in today’s society because it keeps society from falling apart with the spread of illnesses and diseases.

The second offers him the opportunity to divide his work between treatment, research and instruction, in varying proportions. The third means he work for a large corporation, which provides him with patients and handles most of the administrative and business tasks that physicians in private practice have to handle on their own. Doctors can also work in inner-city clinics or in rural areas, where shortages of doctors exist. Doctors can be general practitioners or they can specialize in internal medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, oncology, sports medicine, or one of the many other specialties. Medicine is a very rewarding profession, but it is hard work. Doctors are often exhilarated when they know they have helped someone get well and devastated when they lose a patient. It is a job that can prey upon a physician physically and mentally. Since the average patient is not a doctor, physicians must not only be able to communicate difficult, often painful information to those in their care, but also they must learn how to interpret their patients' needs. They must relate to their patients as people and not reduce them to just the illness that needs to be treated. One element of this is collaborating with their patients to determine the best course of treatment for them as individuals. This requires patience, empathy, and compassion. "Compassion," said one doctor, "is absolutely necessary."
The Hippocratic oath tells us to “remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon 's knife or the chemist 's drug.” This phrase fully explains my desires to become a physician, because while I am fascinated by the science behind it, I want to care for people as a whole, whether simply administering medication to help them feel better or even just listening to their concerns or holding their hand. A career in medicine has been a childhood dream for me. I was born and raised in a small and underdeveloped city in Sri Lanka, where hospitals and doctors were sparse. At the age of ten, I lost my father due to a lack of immediate medical care. Shortly thereafter, a civil war erupted and I witnessed countless deaths throughout my childhood. At a young age, I understood that many deaths could have been avoided, if the sick and injured had access to medical professionals. These experiences have fueled my passionate desire to live my life as a physician.
A doctor is a surgeon or physician that tends to the medical needs of a person. A doctor is viewed as a smart and confident human being. This is an accurate assumption. A doctor is more than just this, he/she is a person who has devoted his/her life to studying the human body. "A doctor should be opaque to his patients and, like a mirror, should show them nothing but what is shown to him" Sigmund Freud.
My admiration and respect for doctors and their noble work is one of my primary reasons for wanting to pursue a career in medicine. That thought came to my mind since I was young.
