Drill influenced my life completely putting me in tough situations and stress testing me beyond my limit. I was not interested when I first saw drill, but my friends had pressured me into coming into one of the practices. Once practice was over I had gained a new hobby that would turn into a passion. I continued from my sophomore year to the present, as I want to pursue drill further and constantly flourish. There is no other hobby that I enjoy better than drill as it keeps me occupied throughout the day. Drill is not complicated and easier to learn than many other endeavours, but it takes dedication to learn every movement precisely.     As a freshman, I was timid and had little to no confidence. When I went to my first drill practice, I felt like I was in my element. Everyone there wanted to be there, they all joined NJROTC because they wanted to. After attending many drill practices, and NJROTC events, I started to come out of my shell. Instead of staying quiet in class, I voiced my opinions more often and sometimes cracked a joke here and there. Then came our first drill competition, where I was the freshman drill squad’s squad leader. At the end of the day we won first place.
