The Neolithic Revolution made government more important for three reasons; property ownership, public works, and a military. Property ownership caused people to argue over who owned certain land and without any laws put in place to distinguish people owned. As civilizations grew, there was a high demand for public works for the people, so the government created them. Before civilizations and forms of government, there were not any active and organized militaries leaving people to fight for themselves against others, so government created a military. The Neolithic Revolution made government necessary because of property ownership. Before people left nomadic ways no one owned land, so as people settled, there was no way to tell if they owned land and if they could inherit the land. That created much confusion and fights over land. After the revolution as humans began to settle down and leave their nomadic ways. Some people settled in the places that geographically are exposed more than others which made the land an easy target to attack, so to defend themselves the people needed defense. An example of this is Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia had no natural barriers which made it susceptible to being attacked, unlike Egypt, which had natural barriers on all sides. Therefore Mesopotamia needed a strong military compared to Egypt. The Mesopotamians would have had no defense to serve all the people in an organized and supported fashion, so the people needed a way to create an army.
