Title Many kids blame their parents for things like forgetting their lunch or being late to basketball practice and it is not a valid excuse. But when someone has very controlling parents, their parents can be the ones to blame. Therefore, Lord Capulet contributes to the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet because he was arranging her marriage and when Juliet didn't want to get married she was threatened by her father. Lord Capulet told Paris, "A Thursday let it be-a Thursday, tell her, She shall be married to this noble earl." (3. 4 23-25). Capulet and Paris were planning the wedding without the consent or presence of Juliet. This angered Juliet because she was already married and she did not want to marry Paris. In Document B, “Think of marriage now”, Juliet tells her mother “ … no more deep will I endart mine eye / Than your consent gives strength to make it fly.” Juliet is telling Lady Capulet that she will only marry the person that her parents approve of. Juliet acts as if she will do what her parents say,which is why they do not take her seriously when Juliet says she does not want to marry Paris and force her to marry him, which drives Juliet to kill herself. Furthermore, Juliet also does not give her parents a reason to why she suddenly changed her mind about marrying paris. Juliet told her parent “ Delay this marriage for a month, a week…” When Juliet says to delay the marriage she does not tell her parents why she wanted to wait, because she did not give a valid reason her parents though she was just being difficult and thought Juliet would get over it and marry Paris. This resulted in Juliet faking her own death, which lead to Romeo and Juliet to take their own lives. Juliet is to blame because she acted as if she had no voice in the decisions that were made for her , causes her parent to overlook her opinion, Juliet also does not communicate why she does not want to marry Paris, which would have resulted in her parents to at least hear her
A person’s family may influence them substantially as they grow, from young children to love-struck teenagers. These family members might do so unintentually, but bad traits will rub off just as often as good ones, so will opinions and ideas. Lord Capulet is a character in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet who tries to make the best out of bad situations, but rarely succeeds and is coloured as quite a hypocrite. He attempts to not be blinded by hate but evidently this leads to many mistakes, usually ones he himself doesn’t end up making, but ones he leads others into. Lord Capulet’s bad parenting leads to the death of his daughter and her lover.
Juliet wants to marry Romeo. This is a problem and it cause Juliet to want to marry Romeo more. In document B Lady Capulet is worried about Juliet getting married because she got married younger than Juliet is right now. Juliet is not ready to get married, but Lady Capulet is pushing it on her(“DBQ: Romeo and Juliet: Who’s to Blame”. Doc. B). When she finds Romeo she loves him and want to get married. She may have fought Romeo because of how hard Lady Capulet is pushing her to get married. In document D Lady Capulet is also to blame. In this document Juliet saying that she does not love Paris, but Lady Capulet and Capulet think otherwise. They are pushing her to married to Paris. This could have affected the way that the story ends with them(“DBQ: Romeo and Juliet: Who’s to Blame”. Doc.
The house of the Capulets invites loyalty among the people but also hot tempers. Through the inability to understand Juliet and put aside their anger they may have been the cause for the events that transpired during the story. Lord Capulet, patriarch of the Capulets, is a man that demands respect and has quite the temper. When his character is introduced he is a reasonable father, taking Juliet’s age into consideration the first time he is approached by Paris about marriage. He allows Romeo to take part of his party after Tybalt discovers him. This seems to take a complete 180 later on when Juliet disobeys her father, after her cousin’s death, he threatens to hurt her. “I tell thee what: get thee to church o' Thursday, or never after look me in the face. Speak not. Reply not. Do not answer me. My fingers itch.” Act 3, scene 5,
If Lord Capulet had not moved the wedding to the next day, then Romeo would have gotten the letter he was originally supposed to receive and Friar Laurence’s plan would have worked out effortlessly. In addition, the father would never allow Juliet to marry Romeo considering he is a Montague, the rival of their family. This made the plan for Juliet to marry Romeo even harder. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, many characters were to blame and some to be pardoned. Friar Laurence and Lord Capulet were the most responsible for the problems Romeo and Juliet face.
Capulet can also be blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet as he is selfish and unsupportive. Capulet was trying to force Juliet to marry Paris and he had the final say in her life. After Tybalt’s death Capulet decides to move the wedding up, which shows he is selfish and doesn’t care what Juliet thinks or if she wants to marry him. If the Capulet parents were more involved in Juliet’s life, maybe the outcome of Romeo and Juliet would have been different in the end. Their parenting style affect Juliet and the play in general. Lord and Lady Capulet are both uninvolved parents in the play when it comes to raising their daughter, Juliet.
A tragedy imitates the emotional events of life by showing instead of telling. It does not have to be an exact replication of life, but instead have some realistic aspects to it. This type of play is special because an event in the plot is caused by a preceding choice or action performed by the character. Therefore, unlike a story where occurrences are caused by coincidences, a tragedy must have events that inescapably connect to one another as a result of the characters’ choices. Consequently, this idea of cause and effect must direct the plot of the play until the protagonists have an unfortunate end. Thus, the audience watching the tragedy will experience fear and pity for the characters since their actions will lead to their dramatic downfall. Similarily, William Shakespeare’s, Romeo and Juliet, conveys these fundamental ideas, but it mainly emphasizes on certain tragic concepts. These components, explained by Aristotle, certainly make this play a quintessence of tragedy. They support the chain of events in Romeo and Juliet by using character traits and majors events to connect the plot and illustrate how the characters create their own ending. For this reason, Romeo and Juliet is a genuine tragedy because of its use of significant, tragic elements; tragically-flawed protagonists; and inevitable fate.
Although Capulet wanted the best for Juliet, he didn't give a thought on how she felt and had forced her to marry Paris which had caused problems that led to her tragic end. She didn't want to marry someone who she did not love and wanted to escape this marriage. Her method of escape was death. Capulet's controlling actions appeared as early as Act I Scene 2, when he was arranging Juliet's marriage to Paris without her consent. Paris wondered if Juliet would like him and Capulet responded with, "Of my child's love: I think she will be ruled. In all respects by me; nay, more, I doubt it not." (IV, 3, ln. 13-14). stating that he doesn't just think Juliet will like him but that he knows she will like him. When Juliet refuses to marry Paris, he shouted, "To go with Paris to Saint Peter's Church, Or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither." (V, 3, ln. 154-155). making her agree to go to the church. Although she did agree to go, her thought of, "I'll to the friar, to know his remedy; If all else fail, myself have power to die." (V, 3, ln. 241-242). showed that she did not plan on marrying Paris and that she would die first. Juliet's arrangement to Paris had brought her death because it had resulted in the potion plan which had caused Romeo and Juliet to die. If Capulet had never forced Juliet to marry Paris, she would have been living happily with Romeo.
Romeo and Juliet is set in an Italian city named Verona. Romeo is the son of of Montague, a powerful family patriarch, and Juliet is the daughter of Capulet, another powerful patriarch. There’s one problem with this. Capulet and Montague hate each other. There’s another problem. The story was set in a time where men were thought of as superior to women. It was not unusual for a father to marry his daughter to another man just for the political status. This makes it impossible for Romeo to marry Juliet peacefully. In today’s world, Capulet’s actions would not be regarded as good parenting, so that is why, in our eyes, Capulet seems like a bad father, but there is more to his bad side. He tried to marry Juliet off to a kinsman of the prince just for the political status, but his bad parenting also harmed Juliet in another way. He let his anger get the best of him in most cases, and by doing this, it made Juliet keep secret from him. So, by being stubborn, self-absorbed, and hot-tempered, he influenced Romeo and Juliet to kill themselves.

“ A pair of two star crossed lovers take their life.” This quote is made in prologue 7 and spoiled what will happen to the reader, but the reason why or who is at fault is never spoken of. Juliet Capulet, daughter of Lady Capulet and Lord Capulet is a thirteen year old girl who is obedient and wants to do the best on behalf of the family. Throughout the play the reader is given many instances were Juliet’s parents feel obligated to love her. At first they threatened to throw her out onto the streets as in Act three Scene 5 Capulet says to Juliet “Thursday is near lay hand on heart and you be mine, Ill give you to my friend, and you to be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets.”. Even though she obeyed her parents they had high expectations of her to do what was beneficial
Another character who is responsible for the deaths of the lovers in Romeo and Juliet is Lord Capulet. Knowing that her father would disagree with her being married to Romeo, a Montague, Romeo and Juliet were forced to keep their love a secret. In the beginning of the play, Lord Capulet tells Paris that Juliet is still to young to woo and that he should wait two years. However, later in the play, he tells Paris that Juliet will be married to him in two days. After hearing that she will be wed in two days, Juliet goes to Friar Lawrence asking for help. If Lord Capulet did not force Juliet to marry Paris, she would not have had to fake her death. The plan that Friar Lawrence devised to prevent the wedding led to death of Romeo and Juliet.
Old Capulet is blameworthy, also. He was inflicting Juliet to marry Paris, although she didn’t want to and threatened that she would kill herself but Capulet didn’t take her threat seriously.Capulet didn’t care about Juliet’s feelings and ignored her
He did not give much thought on how Juliet feels about the marriage and agrees to marry the two even though Juliet had not given him consent. For example, when Paris asks Capulet if Juliet would love him; Capulet responds, "Of my child 's love: I think she will be ruled. In all respects by me; nay, more, I doubt it not." (4.3.13-14). Capulet’s relationship with Juliet is superficial; he does not understand or know his daughter well. By creating the wedding, he causes Juliet to become desperate as she would be marrying someone she doesn’t love. To add to the matter, instead of trying to understand his daughter’s perspective, he becomes aggressive and gives her with an ultimatum. Capulet shouts, “Disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get thee to church o 'Thursday, Or never after look me in the face.” (3.5.160-163). By forcing Juliet into marriage, she becomes desperate and causes her to begin considering death as a way out. "I 'll to the friar, to know his remedy; If all else fail, myself have power to die." (3.5.241-242). Capulet’s controlling and aggressive parenting forces Juliet to marry someone she does not love. Furthermore, this causes Juliet to starts considering suicide as a way out. Capulet’s actions to forcefully marry Juliet to Paris brings her death because it results in the Friar’s potion plan which would cause the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. If Capulet did not
