I think that high school is just a building with a lot of make up around it.This is high school. The test also has an optional writing part that requires students to write an essay at the end. It is meant to test students to see if they are writing on a high enough to do well in college. All students should be required to take the ACT test with writing because it shows whether or not they are on a high enough level for college writing, they can save money by earning scholarships and they will be put in a writing class that is not too difficult for them.
If a teenager failed their driving exam would they still get a driver’s license? No, because if he did he would be a danger to himself and to others around him. It is the same thing with a child who cannot learn the basic building blocks of English, math, and science. This child will not be able to comprehend the advanced concepts learned in the next grade if he cannot even understand the material from the previous grade. Also he would be a hindrance to the class because he would slow his classmates down with his lack of knowledge causing the teacher to have to explain everything to him. The advancement to the next grade without passing the previous grade will not only hurt the child’s self-esteem and basic education foundation, but also cause him to be a nuisance to his classmates.
High school is supposed to be a one more step closer to college; it’s supposed to be preparing you for the future right? Wrong. My experience in high school was very different; I never quite fit in with anyone, the “friends” that I thought that I had used me for money. Let’s just say when I was a freshman I had a friend whom I knew from grade school, her name was Meghan Lawrence and she was the kind of person who I really believed I could tell her anything and she would keep it to herself. Once again I was proven wrong, I developed a crush on a boy and she knew that I had a crush on him; one morning before class both he and she went to the corner store, she thought it would be funny to tell him all about my crush, which he tortured me with, playing with my emotions, made me feel like he might actually like me back.
High school is a crucial part in many people’s life. It is a time for people to grow, develop, and transition into adulthood. I am a firm believer in the idea that situations are what a person makes of them and I believe that I have created a great experience in my three years of high school. High school is a lot like a marathon. Students start out at the beginning and when the whistle blows runners are on their way. Just like high school it's the beginning and the end. And as you get into 10th, 11th, and 12th grade you grow slowly, and after school has taught you everything, if you decided to take that opportunity they send you into the real world. One way to compare and contrast high school life and college life is to look at the differences between high school teachers and college professors. High school teachers verbally explain what is expected throughout the duration of the semester. College professors give a syllabus which covers assignments and conduct. Taking class attendance is also done differently. Attendance is expected in high school with parent and administration approving any absences. In college, attendance is expected but students are solely responsible for attending classes. Another way to compare and contrast the two is to look at the teaching styles and methods. High school teachers teach from the textbook giving little if any notes at all. College professors teach lecture style requiring a great deal of note taking.
As of today, people have generally realized that the high school role is very similar to the college role and they both play a large aspect in the generalization of modern day school. Therefore, when a student decides to choose a school, the method is long and very tedious. They acknowledge every class offered and every sport available along with every extracurricular activity. However, a lot may compare and contrast high school with college. The aspects they grasp on people is not a secret and very important. Anyhow, the methods used to educate these students are very similar to each other although the differences are great such as the facilities they occupy and the extracurricular activities each offer.
