Companies understand that potential customers must be exposed multiple times to advertising before it fosters subconscious recognition or positive feelings for the brand. It’s the same for any online presence and for authors.

The academic discourse community has certain expectations about an argument which make the work convincing and credible to members of the community. Before the work is even considered however, the community has expectations of the author. The author must fulfill these expectations in order to be considered credible or convincing. Some general criteria for an author in the academic discourse community include having a voice in the work, credentials and experience that make him or her qualified to write on the subject, a sense of professionalism about them shown in the tone and diction of the work, and a balanced view of all sides of the issue. In the case of author Damien Cave and his article "On Sale at Old Navy Cool Clothes for Identical Zombies!" and John E. Calfee with his article "How Advertising Informs to Our Benefit" one can see the difference between an author who fulfills the academic discourse community's expectations and one who does not. While Damien Cave can be persuasive in some communities, neither he nor his writing is credible to the academic discourse community because he lacks the qualities that this community values in an author.

In recent years, the realms of marketing and public relations have changed. Branding has become an increasingly important tool for businesses. In 2016, branding also means having a strong presence on social media. Lisa Ostrowercha describes social media as another way “… for your brand to share its personality with the masses” (Ostrowercha, 2016).
There are Christians all over the world engaged in web writing, especially blogging. Nearly five weeks ago, I started a blog and began to create and write content for it. I’ve acquired many new skills, as a web writer, since beginning my journey. So far, the greatest blessing is the community of bloggers that I have met through various means. There are so many resources for Christian bloggers that provide encouragement and instruction, to keep us focused on God’s purpose for our blogs, e-books, and social media outlets. Proverbs 11:14 says, “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” If we stay connected with other Christian bloggers and have fellowship with them, we will learn from each other and only become better at creating content that glorifies

There are certain ways to prove credibility. When writing a research paper, trying to find credible sources is something that many professor stress. The internet has so many websites and many of them look the same but some of them have false information. Trying to find the website that is suitable is hard to do. A website ending in .org can be just as reliable as a website in .com. The domain of the website doesn’t determine how trustworthy a website is. Just because there is someone wearing a suit doesn’t make them a businessman. There is a checklist of things that can be checked for when trying to figure out credibility.
