Since the dawn of modern civilization the terms good and evil have been used to describe the world and the various things within it. Things ranging from the concepts of the Devil, to the kid the cut in front you in the lunch line in the third grade, evil can be defined in many ways, however, evil is generally defined as something that goes against a single set of moral principles that society has defined. This is not true because evil is something that an individual perceives that they believe will cause them harm and goes against their individual moral beliefs, not some universal concept accepted by everyone. The morals of society concept is exemplified by the Judeo-Christian religions. Chances are that you said yes, almost instantly after reading the question. However, to Hitler he probably believed that he was truly helping his country by killing these people who he believed were responsible for it’s downfall. Hitler was considered a hero to some people for his action and is still considered a hero by some. These people developed their morals in places where Hitler’s actions were considered morally correct. Would you consider these people evil? They were raised with a completely different perspective on certain events than you were. You might consider these people as evil, but at the same time these people view you as evil for going against their beliefs. So in the end, who is truly evil? Is it the people who you were raised on the belief that Hitler’s actions were morally right? Or is it you who was raised with the perspective that his actions were despicable act of genocide. It is up to you as an individual to decide who and what is evil in the world, because in the end these evils affect only you and what you believe is morally right and
