United States Flag
The United States flag bears three different unique and patriotic colors significant to the United States of America. These colors include; red, blue, and white. The stripes alternating between red and white. There are 13 stripes in total symbolizing the 13 British colonies that became free from the Kingdom of Great Britain. The red stripes also represent the 7 continents of the world. Moving onto the upper left side of the flag, you will see a blue square which symbolized the Union. Inside, there are 50 stars which exemplify the 50 states in the United States. The flag is used to show the patriotism shown in the United States of America. Recognizing the independence we had gained and the freedom and liberty we have created. Usually many American citizens will fly their flags year round inside their private homes, but its most widespread during holidays like Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, and President’s Day.

The United States Revolutionary Flag otherwise known as the “Betsy Ross Flag”. The Flags exterior resembles very closely to the United States Flag but differs in the amount of stars the flag bears. The flag shows 13 starts instead of the 50 stars the United States Flag shows. The 13 stars resemble the 13 colonies . The distinction of the flag is how the stars are arranged, in a circle. “In 1877, author Alfred B. There are several American symbols one being the flag the stripes symbolizing the thirteen territories and fifty stars identifying with the fifty states, it is displayed on national events, for example, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Independence Day. The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of America that was seen by many emigrants arriving at Elis Island which represents freedom to those entering this country. The bald eagle is another symbol that represents the freedom of being part of the American culture.
The American Flag may not look like much but it stands for the loyalty that every citizen in America has for their country. It resembles many people's love for the place they live. It also stands for the knowing that many people would die fighting for our nation. People have been loyal since America was founded and there will always be somebody that will pass on that loyalty to the flag. Another thing the flag stands for is the growing our country has done over many years.
However, some southerners would argue that the initial meaning of the Confederate flag had little association to anything (Prince, n.d.). When I think of the United States Flag I feel honored. Everyday in the morning after the school bell rings I place my hand upon my heart, and say the “Pledge of Allegiance”. Everyday I am reminded of the appreciation I have for my country. The flag represents all the veterans who fought for our country. When I look at the flag the white stars on the sky of blue represent the past veterans who served our country, the red stripes represent the bloodshed of the fallen soldiers who died protecting our country, and the white stripes signifies innocence and purity.

Our founding fathers wanted something to symbolize everything their new nation would stand for. In the end our founding fathers chose to make a flag with thirteen stripes representing our original thirteen colonies with thirteen stars also representing our original thirteen colonies. This flag still has thirteen stripes but now has fifty stars representing all fifty states in our nation (History). The word justice is like saying all of the police men and women out there. They bring criminals to justice so then they can face their consequences. Now we go to the word sacrifice. The American flag has long been a symbol of our country, but there have been certain doubts about its origin. No one really knows who sewed the American flag. The legend of Betsy Ross has been told many times, but some people look upon it as a myth, saying Betsy Ross never even existed. Betsy Ross was indeed a real person who lived in the 1700's, but no one can prove she actually sewed the American Flag.
Another view of the American flag is the colors red, white, and blue. Some Americans see the color red as blood for all the blood shed on the battlegrounds. Another color white for victory or triumph in our great nation of America. Lastly, the color blue for the sadness or sorrow felt because of the lives lost in war.
