In the late 1800’s to early 1900’s, many families from across the world chose to pack up their belongings and move to America. Many came for religious freedom and economic security; however, some just wanted the chance to pursue the “American Dream.” Once families settled down in America, everyone (including women and children) had to go to work to ensure that the family had all that was needed to survive. Factory jobs were the main source of income for many of these families; the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, employed at least 200 immigrant workers a day.
