Exploring Suicide The natural end of every human life is death. Some people, for reasons that have never been fully understood, choose to end their own lives. This is called suicide, which means literally ?self-killing?. For all the uncertainty that has surrounded the phenomenon of suicide, this assessment of the problem is probably as accurate as any. The individual seemingly hopeless conflict with the world, decides to end his or her existence in what amounts to a final assault against a society that can no longer be tolerated. In so doing, the person tries to obtain a final revenge on everything and everyone that has caused their feelings of depression. Attempts at suicide, and suicidal thoughts of feelings are usually symptom indicating that a person isn?t coping, often as a result of some event or series of events that they personally find overwhelmingly traumatic or distressing. In many cases, the events in question will pass, their impact can be mitigated, or their overwhelming nature will gradually fade if the person is able to make constructive choices about dealing with the crisis when person is able to make constructive choices about dealing with the crisis when it is at its worst. Suicide is intentional self-inflicted acts that end in death. A self-destruction Suicide is the act or an instance of intentionally killing oneself. Suicide is applied to all cases of death resulting directly or indirectly from a positive or negative act of the victim himself, which he knows will produce this result. Suicide is a rarely ever a spur of the moment thing. The Susceptibility to suicide is lowest among those who have strong community ties. Suicide is defined as the act of taking one’s own life on purpose. The CDC defines it as “self-directed violent behavior that deliberately results in injury or the potential for injury to oneself.” Suicidal behavior is thoughts or tendencies that put one at risk for committing suicide.
I am not a fan of the topic of suicide. I feel that in general we need to figure this out and quickly. As I read others takes on suicide I have been noticing a pattern. I’ve learned there are two pretty opposite takes on it. It only seems silly to those who have not had to deal with these types of problems. My life experiences do not match up with the experiences of others. My perceptions are not always reality. I still cannot ignore how I feel about it though. I feel that suicide is a cowardly way to handle your problems. No matter how bad it gets I cannot see a reason to end your own life and to punish others. In Hoagland 's essay he stated, "Many suicides inflict outrageous trauma, burning permanent injuries in the minds of their children." (Heaven and Nature, Pg. 212) I have never been so stressed that I felt like I needed to end my own life but I also have never had to battle with mental illnesses. I wonder how many people who commit suicide have a mental illness. We seem to only care when someone has committed suicide instead of fixing the problem beforehand. I feel that most people who commit suicide typically struggle not only with their underlining issue but they also struggle with the contemplation and attempts at suicide. I have come across many people who have attempted to commit suicide and I get to hear their story. Most of the time as they are in their ambulance they start to talk. Most of the time they say that they did not want to be successful, they just wanted to see how close they could get and if they could handle it. This is disturbing to me because it almost feels like they are practicing. I feel that in reality they are not practicing but they want to know what it feels like. Another thing I wonder is how many suicides were

Suicide is a primary communal health matter. It is the tenth leading cause of death overall in the United States and the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34.(CDC, 2017) Every day more and more people are taking their own lives. Suicide is a national problem caused by three main categories; biopsychosocial, environmental, and sociocultural.
There are four types of suicide: the first is Altruistic- which is when there is too much integration, which in turn, leads to an individual’s loss of identity as an individual. Instead, he or she is acknowledged through what group he or she is a part of as a collective. This then leads one to commit suicide, because of their willingness to sacrifice oneself for the collective, since they have no individualism.
The more a question is argued the better that question becomes it is often said. That question begins to grow and the side effect of this is the more people it reaches. Whether that question can be put into a category of right or wrong it begs to be answered. Knowledge is something that people instinctively need to function when faced with a problem, an answer must be found or it begins to form eminent possibility in any direction. The problem is a question that no one can truly answer for anyone other than the person faced with it, which is one's own self. The arguments from either side of this philosophical problem must not be centered around one's own belief but all that share the dilemma, which is in fact every human being. Suicide, that is the one thing that every person who is physically capable has the ability to do. The philosophical question of suicide is truly a serious one, so serious in fact that some have proclaimed it to be the only question. To live or to die, a choice that some hold so high as to say it is the only one problem any one person can face. This problem is one seen by many as a philosophical problem and that idea does hold ground. Grounds being that if one dies then the other questions do not really matter in life, as with the invert of this to live. When one is alive all philosophical question matter every second that one is breathing but can be all can be ended with one act. So if life is the beginning of all the problems, then suicide is the ending to every problem. With such a serious question many will have very enlighten and fictitious answers on the philosophical problem of suicide. The philosophical problem of suicide will have supporters and opponents and those people have adequate support...
In considering people`s motives for killing themselves, it is essential to recognize that most suicides are driven by a flash flood of strong emotions, not rational, philosophical thoughts in which the pros and cons are evaluated critically; Alaska was obviously not in a stable state of mind due to her intense emotions and intoxication. Step one is defined as falling short of standards. Statistically, suicide rates are higher in nation with higher standards of living. Such idealistic conditions heighten suicide risk considering the creation of unreasonable standards for personal happiness. Step two is attributions to self. For a suicide to occur, it is seen as a necessary for one to loathe themselves for facing the troubles they find themselves in. For example, Alaska mercilessly accepts complete blame for her mother’s death. Alaska demonizes herself in response to negative turn of events. Feelings of worthlessness, shame, guilt, and inadequacy leads suicidal people to dislike themselves in a manner that, essentially, cleaves those who are suicidal from an idealized humanity. The self is seen as being enduringly undesirable; there being no hope for change with the core self being perceived as
The definition of suicide is the act of killing oneself. Per data collected by the American Association of Suc 2010 Final Data Report , there is an average of one person every 13.7 minutes that commits suicide and that suicide was the 10th leading cause of death in the United States at the time of the reports compilation. With studies proving suicide to be such a viable option for some, there arise the questions of morality concerning suicide. Is it ever an acceptable course of action? If so, under what circumstances might suicide be considered reasonable? Are there circumstances where the act of killing oneself is justifiable? Does one’s position in society or religious background determine the validity in one’s belief’s on suicide?
To further explain suicide, it is not just a feeling; It is a life changing action.”Suicide is a desperate attempt to escape suffering that
According to the World Health Organization health is defined as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (Bertolote pg.2). Suicide is a much bigger problem than society will admit; the causes, methods, and prevention need to be discussed more openly. Committing suicide probably sounds like a foreign idea to most people, but to the people who think about it, they deal with it every day. More importantly, the question is what leads people to kill themselves? In general, most people do not want to actually kill themselves, even though many people joke about it on a daily basis. Being human, we all have a certain amount of will to live.
Suicide has become a critical, national problem and the extent of this is mind-boggling. Suicides have been proven to be one of the leading causes of death among college students. According to Webters dictionary “suicide is the act killing oneself on purpose”. It derived from the Latin sui, meaning “self”, and caedere, which means “to kill”. But this is just a definition, because an actual suicide holds different meanings to people such as tragic, shocking, a relief, a cry for help, a shame, heroic, the right choice, punishment, revenge, protest, anger, a mistake, desperate, hurtful and many more. But why do people, like college students who have their entire future ahead of them, simply give up hope and turn their heads away from life and commit suicide. There are several causes of suicide, recent incidents of suicide on college campuses, warning signs from a suicidal. I blame the Constitution and the United States law for not taking any hard initiative on the subject of suicide. I also impose the choice of the media, which is reflecting and portraying suicide towards a wrong direction. However most important questions remain: can the growing epidemic of suicide be solved, what are communities doing about it and what can they do to help?
