Legislation in schools is put in place to promote equality and to make sure there is no discrimination against pupils staff or visitors. Legislation makes sure children's basic needed whilst in school are met and it is a safe environment for child to learn in, with the people working in the setting having strict CRB checks against them ensuring the safeguarding of all pupils.

Risk assessments have to be made when on school trips or off site visits based on students needs for example special educational or medical needs. Adult to student ratio, routes and location as well as emergency procedures. OFSTED is the school specific regulatory bodies for England, they are responsible for inspections of services carried out by schools, colleges and children's homes making sure they provide the quality of service adequate for every child and young person. OFSTED make professional judgment when inspecting the settings ,it will then be published in an OFSTED report outlining any required improvements that may be needed and the necessary actions to improve their facilities to provide adequate standards in care and education .
