Kohlberg’s theory was triggered by and supports Piaget’s theory of moral development where they agree that moral development changes from stages to stages. Also, he was able to discover the ways people think about certain situations as they mature. Kohlberg’s stages and levels of moral development has been proven to be universal structures relating to age. Kohlberg’s invariant-sequence hypothesis proved that individuals progress through the moral stages in exactly the order he predicted and never skipped a stage. For example, a test of 3 to 4 intervals shows that participants were either at the same stage of their last interview or have progressed to another stage.
