Preservierence is the continuous effort to achieve a goal that often times is perceived as unreachable. In My life there have been many different times where perseverance was necessary. My whole life is based around sports, from the football field to the baseball field and all things between I have had to persevere through some of the hardest times in my life to find true happiness. I have found that happiness isn 't in winning, it is in doing what you never believed you could. My sports happiness isn 't in beating others, happiness is in beating yourself and tearing down the walls that you built up against yourself and then sharing the moment with the ones you love. I overcame multiple sports challenges, specifically baseball, but baseball is more than a sport. The best lessons in my life have been made between the chalk lines.
My soul is dominated by faith and family but there is a certain part of my soul that is reserved for the greatest game ever, baseball. From the first time I stepped on a baseball field practicing to try out for the traveling baseball team to our current playoff run I have had to

The coach bus ride, amazing baseball field, and great hotel all came together to create one of the best moments in my life. We arrived in our rooms to find they were all linked together by doors, it was the perfect set up. We arrived at the baseball field knowing we were playing a multiple state championship team and I was pitching. It was the first game that all three of my pitches were on and I dominated with 11 strikeouts. During the whole season I had struggled during the last inning but at the end of this game i was perfect and ended the game with a strikeout. The embrace of my new family and the happiness I found in persevering through hard times combined to give me a feeling that I will probably never feel
“The good guy always wins” is a phrase we often hear growing up. Parents reassure their kids that the hero will win despite the trials he encounters. Joseph Campbell, who coined the term “monomyth”, identifies these trials as a part of a pattern in the hero’s journey. This pattern consists of separation, initiation, and return. Osmosis Jones goes through this pattern with only a few pieces missing. The hero in this story teaches others that giving up is not an option. One must have perseverance to complete a goal, in this case, to save Frank. The journey that Jones takes to help him get through the monomyth helps develop the theme of perseverance because he never gives up on what he wants.
Many people encounter perseverance throughout their life in certain events. Buck from the Call of the Wild, is taken from a place like home to him and thrown into a harsh environment he is not used to. Similar to that, my mom was living a normal life when suddenly she had to stay strong for the family due to her brother near death from a tragic wreck. Even though they differ, both had to adapt to the life changing experiences and stay mentally strong.
When I was younger the game of baseball was a safe haven for me. This was because I had a speech impediment which caused me to have trouble making friends at school. To counter my loneliness, I developed a close relationship with my dad. However, my dad worked six days a week and on his off days he always watched baseball. So, I decided to watch the games with him. I quickly became invested in the sport and watched every game that I could and eventually started covering the entire league. Gradually I began realizing that baseball
Growing up, I have always had a passion for baseball. To me, it is much more than just a sport. There have been times when it has acted as an escape from many problems in my life, as I feel that when I am on the diamond, nothing can hurt me. I am aware that many people feel this way about the sport they love, but sadly their careers often come to an abrupt end due to injury. I have a personal connection to this experience.
Back then, I could rarely beat that one friend I would constantly play with. Regardless, I never gave up. Even though losing is frustrating, it is what drives me to practice even more so that I can improve. Perseverance is a special trait because it was what kept me from giving up, and because of it, I have long since surpassed my friend. Currently, that perseverance has carried over to the tournaments that I enter. Even if I lose, I choose to get back up, keep playing, and try again. I have the determination and desire to defeat the players who are ranked above me. When I finally beat them, or win the tournament, the satisfaction from proving myself is the best reward I could ever receive. I am currently ranked sixth in Hawaii, and it was because of my perseverance that I was able to achieve that. Perseverance is what allows me to not give up, and to keep looking forward.
With seconds to spare I arrived at batting practice and began to prepare for my game. I hear coach call out my name and as I he acknowledged that I was there he told me I was pitching. My brain shifted and went into a whole new mode, I was more focused and more determined than I have ever been. This was the biggest baseball game of my career and I 'm starting on the mound. Honestly it couldn 't have turned out any better, the fate of the pin and my team lied in my hands and I loved the pressure. The pressure made me thrive and before I knew it our team was marching onto the field for the national anthem. During the singing of the national anthem I peeked into the crowd and first row down the first base side was the little boy I met on the cart and his dad sitting right next to him. This game was for that little boy, I needed to impress him. I pitched six strong innings and my team ended up winning the game. It was the most exciting game of my career and the best part was being greeted with the best pin in the tournament after such a spectacular win. The little boy ran out into the middle of the field where we shook our opponents hands and in front of everyone in the stadium handed me the only thing I cared about besides winning. I was in the best mood for the rest of the day and I rewarded myself with a nice long sleep. I could only image what the next day had to
My perseverance has prepared me for a career in medicine. The path towards becoming a physician can be long and challenging, necessitating the ability to endure. My ability to bounce back from setbacks and mistakes has solidified throughout my journey. One of the cornerstone experiences of my personal development occurred during high school. My determination led to me my graduating as valedictorian of my class, while balancing three varsity sports and several extracurricular activities. In addition, I worked on weekends to help support my family financially. This persistence resulted in scholarship awards that made higher education a possibility.
Life Lesson As an underclassman you come into high school either thinking that the next four years of your schooling will be really easy or really stressful. To tell the truth, it can be both, whether you come into high school with a positive or negative attitude. High school is the last place you can get away with some mistakes and try again. The next four years will test your skills and responsibilities.
I remember it as clear as day. It had been a fairly normal week, and a routine average day. It was a Friday and I was driving home from school in my trusty Toyota Tercel. I was getting into the dreaded mental set of the game that I would be playing in that night. I had to play in the band at halftime and it was the first performance of the season. The whole ride to my house I thought about the game and hoped and prayed that we wouldn't make huge fools of ourselves. Before I knew it, I was already home. I remember thinking that it felt like the shortest drive ever, getting to beautiful Rolling Oaks. When I got home, little did I know, that there would be a huge surprise waiting for me that would change my life forever.
Persistence is more important than ability to determine a person’s success. When there is a person who wants to do their goal or task they have to be able to work hard for their goal, they need to be dedicated to the goal, and no matter what happens they can’t give up which means that they have to keep going and going until they have finally achieved what they wanted to achieve. So this shows that a great successor needs to be very persistent to achieve and go beyond what they want to do, they need to drive themselves to success, but most of all they need to be patient and have time.
I will never forget my first season of competitive golf, averaging in the upper ninety’s and by the end of this season I was averaging in the low ninety's which qualified me for the first round of the post season. This event was the Mid-Penn championship, held at Armitage golf course.
Failure happens when something isn't successful. Failure is a thing that all people can learn from. Failures can be used as lessons so that the failure will not be repeated again. One of my greatest failures in life that I've experienced and learned from would be from the time of my first grade year. I didn’t take school seriously when I was in the first grade and made terrible grades. After this failure, it made change the outlook on school and I started trying. I learned that I need to take school serious or else I will do bad in school. This failure lead to success in school and I started making good grades which will help later on in life.
“The failure is the mother of success” this Chinese quote said that failure is not the end. Failure is where people learn from their mistake. People cannot be successful all the time. Indeed, there are many people who learned from their failures before being successful. Each failure that people had met is a helpful lesson and valuable experience to help them become a better person.
I have a very fulfilling feeling about what I have been able to accomplish in my life so far. I want the absolute best for myself and those close to me. I often go above and beyond to help those around me succeed and be the best version of themselves that they can possibly be.
