What is courage? Courage is the spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, and bravery. Courage to me is bravery, heroic acts, and people that put their life in danger. Many people show acts of courage everyday in the world. You might not know if you are showing courage, unless it is a big act.
Many people show different acts of courage. Juliane Koepcke is one of them, she is 17 years old and she survived a plane crash. On Christmas Eve Juliane boarded a plane with her mother to meet her father. The plane was struck by lightning and everyone was in a great surprise. The wing tore off causing the plane to crash. The way their stories are the same is that they were both flying to see their dad, they were there alone, they both got cuts and bruises, and they had to fight different animals. In the book Brian was there alone after the pilot died. In the article Juliane was alone after the pilot and the passengers died. They are related because they were both alone after a person or people had died. In the book Brian had to fight animals like moose and he came across bears. The way they showed the same courage was by fighting against someone or something. In the book Brian had to fight a moose and in the article Anthony had to fight people. They were both knocked down and got back up to fight. They never gave up even if they were injured badly. They were very strong and brave.
What does courage show? Courage shows that people in this world are selfless, brave and heroic. People put themselves before others and keep people safe. People do it everyday, whenever a firefighter steps into a burning house they put themselves in danger. If you think courage is pathetic, let me see what you can do. Halvorsen made the daring decision to drop thousands of individual packages of candy to all of the sweet deprived citizens of West Berlin. Pilot Gail Halvorsen contributed a daring effort by flying day in and day out dropping candy all with the hopes of trying to improve the awful conditions for those involved in the blockade, putting smiles on people’s faces and living up to the standards of heroism.
