Drama Personal Statement
Drama is a subject that I thoroughly enjoy with its academic and practical areas. Whilst studying drama at GCSE and now at A Level. I have noticed that it is something I am passionate about as it gives me the ability to show my enthusiasm and to use lots of energy. By studying at different levels I have recognised that I am able to understand emotions easier whilst learning a lot about the subject academically. Following this, I would love to have the chance to continue to learn more about the subject and gain more experience and skills.
During attending school and college, I have had numerous opportunities to get involved in performing. One of my best experiences was being part of the cast in Beauty and The Beast

When completing training I will be for-filling the job role of answering the phone to people who need someone to talk to about their personal issues. This will help me to gain relevant experience to become a Drama Therapist.
During my spare time I enjoy going to the Theatre to specifically watch musicals like 'Billy Elliot' and 'Cats the Musical'. As well as this I like to socialise with my friends and read various genres like Real Life Tragedies and Horrors. I attended Boys Scouts and Boys Brigade which I enjoyed due to the fact I got to take part in lots of activities like learning Cycling Proficiency. Team work was a key aspect in these activities outside of school because it made it more enjoyable, everyone got along better and it meant that we got to participate in more activities.
During the past 3 years I have experience of working in the Customer Service Industry being able to interact with different types of customers and gain skills. I have gained skills like being honest, reliable and organised. I have shown being reliable to my previous managers by attending all of the time and picking up extra shifts to help out. This industry has also made me realise that through communicating with customers I like to be able to see that I can make them happy and this can be shown through Acting and people applauding you for the work you have
Everything for a year had been leading up to this point and here I was in the middle of the happiest place on earth in tears because my friends had abandoned me in the middle of Disney on the senior trip.
What started out as a hobby transformed into a passion for an art form that allows me to use movements and expressions to tell a story. Whether I’m on stage in front of an audience of just friends and family, hundreds of strangers and a panel of judges, or the whole school, performing over thirty times, has helped me build lifelong
Finally, it is fun to study drama. It is fun to dramatise and dress up and fall over dead behind improvised curtains and fence with blackboard pointers and cook up a witches brew and come to school with a spade over your shoulder for the Graveyard Scene. It is fun, and while all the fun is being enjoyed an incredible amount of language is pouring into these students' heads, through listening, reading, watching videos and learning lines off by heart.
For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to be an encouraging influence for others. As a child I was very shy and unsure of myself partly due to my overwhelming fear of others and feelings of inadequacy. Nevertheless deep inside I knew of my true worth but was afraid to show the world who I really was because I may be rejected. Those feelings of rejection kept me from being who I am and sent me down a dark, lonely, and destructive path.
My commitment and motivation to pursue master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy is based on the extensive experiences that I have gained in human services in the past 2 years. Since long I have always held the belief that the application of psychological principles has the power to positively impact society. And I especially believe in its power to help children cope with the stresses and events of everyday life. My own life is a testament to this belief.
It is so easy to lose yourself onstage. Even with an almost blinding spotlight shining down on you, it is so easy to feel yourself slipping away until you are no longer there anymore. You have been replaced by this person known as your character and everything that you were has now become everything that they are. Your entire being has been stripped away from you, yet you embrace it because you are an actor and this moment is the most euphoric moment of your life.
I received a voice mail today from Sean McKnight stating he has a meeting setup with Ken Barber and some other individuals on the executive board of Illinois Joining Forces (IJF). I felt it was my duty to inform the group about some important facts that Mr. McKnight is very good at hiding. I met Mr. McKnight during my time at NIU. I just served my time as the NIU Veterans Club president and decided it was time to let someone else take the helm. Matthew Galloway the current Veterans Club president introduced the club to Sean McKnight at a veterans club meeting. Sean came in and presented himself as a seasoned veteran’s advocate who has many connections throughout the state of Illinois and Washington D.C. He promoted his organization that he was starting Warriors Guarding Warriors as a revolutionary concept that has not been thought of as for yet throughout the veteran community. Finally, he offered his services to any veterans having trouble with VA benefits or the medical process. At the time we did not know that he was not officially certified to help veterans, and nor did he actually know the proper process or paper work needed to help our fellow veterans. Sean offered to be the Veterans Clubs mentor. The club held a vote and
I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty of how theater is more than a mere performance, but rather an artform with nuance and depth. My knowledge on theatrical styles has expanded and some of my favorites we have studied in class are Brechtian and Chinese theatre styles. I grew up participating in musical theatre, but never had the opportunity to truly learn the history and details of the craft. After studying RENT, I am inspired by the various possibilities for theater beyond acting, singing, and dancing. Theater can be used for activism or as a form of commemoration. Theater is relevant by communicating issues to the world. Theater is so much more than a dramatic presentation. The theater that I have come to appreciate the most are the performances that relay a greater purposeful message about society amidst the theatricals on
I began to get fascinated by our capitalist world’s economy at a very early age of my life. Growing up, I was incredibly curious to unravel how systems function, and this curiosity developed into a burning desire to learn how processes and organizations operate and run our world. As I started my first job, I realized how much I needed to be better acquainted with the science of money making and the scientific approaches to money management. Later on in my life, being within a company system, I wanted to see the big picture by learning where such a company stands in the midst of all other business interactions locally and internationally. Being involved in the company’s practices I started analyzing the methods used by my managers, the causes and consequences of their managerial choices.

An 11 years old kid lying on the ground in a dark room crying, shaking, and trembling with intense pain in both of his ears. The pain was similar to as if someone was hitting with some sharp object inside his ears and every time he would feel the shock of pain, he would pull both of his ears while enduring the pain. The pain would raise every couple of second and with each shock of pain, the kid would lose part of the hope that he had of surviving. He would experience so intense pain that he had never anticipated and all he could think of that “he is about to die.” This was the experience that I felt when I had a severe ear infection in both of my ears.
Having only been exposed to the performance side of things in high school, learning about the amount of work that goes into production offered me a refreshing look into theatre and all it entails. The hands on experiences of LX2 and SX were eye openers for me in terms of looking at what happens backstage while actors are rehearsing, which is the part of theatre I am most familiar with.
My first experience with a musical production was watching my older brother perform “Guys and Dolls” when he was in middle school (as Nathan Detroit). I acted in a few musicals in my younger years, and helped produce the high school’s Godspell musical this past spring. When I was a kid, my first musical was Power. I held a part in this play as part of the chorus. Later, I played the disciple Peter in another church musical. Although these were not major roles, they still had a big impact on my theater skills. I went on to join the drama club in Middle School. We performed several plays such as “Christmas in Oz”, “Shakespeare Goes to Gravel Gulch”, “Law and Order: Nursery Rhymes
There are many approaches one could take to analyze a specific work. One of these critical approaches is called biographical criticism. This is the belief that authors reflect events and feelings from their own lives into their writing. By taking this approach, a reader can find out more about the author through the work of literature. They can also have more insight into the story by seeing the true meaning behind it and seeing the author's intent. Of the dramas we have read in class, Tennessee Williams' “A Streetcar Named Desire” was a play that really captured the essence of biographical criticism. After researching Williams' life, it is clear that he echoes his own personal experiences throughout the course of the play.
My interest in public interest law, nonprofit advocacy, and social justice began at a very young age. My passion was influenced by my upbringing, as well as my journey down a path different from what my family and culture envisioned. It is this same divergent path that has led me to me to pursue the legal profession today.
