The question comes up again; “How is your diet?” Jessica revisited her diet analysis from the first week of class. She noticed that some things have changed and some things, unfortunately, have not changed. She knew that some things would not change because of the hectic and busy semester and summer she had ahead of her but the things that did change surprised her. This class did some good for her, but she still needs some work on her diet and nutrition. When it came to the fruits and vegetables category, the results were relatively the same. The three food tracker revealed basically the same; that she does not eat enough fruits and vegetables. The reason for this now is because of being way too busy to actually eat like she was supposed to. She has learned to like more vegetables than she did back in May, but she is still not eating as many vegetables as she should be eating on a daily basis. The timing is still an issue and will probably continue to be an issue until she lives with someone else who will help her eat the fruits and vegetables before they go bad. She loves fruits and is getting better at eating vegetables, but when she does not eat them as fast as the get bad, then that is just a waste of money. Also being extremely busy this summer has not made it easy to eat more fruits and vegetables. If someone does not have time to go to the …show more content…
It is a group of dietary supplements that fit into the person’s lifestyle. What Jessica got is a drink mix and a diet supplement that is taken with the drink mix. It is taken each day in the morning. She also read where she needs to drink more water so she is drinking half her weight in ounces of water. She started this a week ago and has been doing well with it. She got an app on her phone that can keep track of how much water she drinks a day and she has been drinking her goal each day. She has one of the Brita filter water bottle that she uses and fills it up at
The following is an analysis of Joe Smith's food intake for one day by using the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP) website using a food tracker program. The analysis addresses the serving sizes consumed, which food groups were represented, and adjustments in consumption that should be made since Mr. Smith would like to loose weight. Visual representations are attached for reference in the appendix.
In my Diet Journal, I recorded all the food I ate over the weekend with the best accuracy I could attempt to do. But one of the factors that made my food diary inaccurate was that I couldn’t find every detail and percentage of fat, carbohydrates, and proteins in everything I ate. Also, all of the amounts and servings were approximations, not exact amounts. I was able to record everything I ate, but accuracy may have been affected by estimations and sources. The calorie intake I had over the three day period ranged from 1900-2500 calories. This was over my 1800 BMR, due to the food choices and fluctuation in diet.
This process has not been easy and I have struggled to stay consistent with my healthy eating habits. Keeping my cravings under control has always been a challenge and my love of bread makes things a little harder. I also recognized that I am a stress eater. I had never paid attention to my eating patterns until I begin to keep a journal. This project has definitively helped me monitor and attain a better Healthier lifestyle.
For years, I have been eating what I want. Food choices are a significant factor that affects our health. What we like or crave, often, is the determining variable in what we eat. Finding the right balance of food choices is the key factor in improving our health benefits. Choosing nutrient-dense foods will provide more nutritional value than foods that are found to be low in nutrient density. Making the right choices in foods, however, is extremely difficult. Often, I find myself enthralled in the latest fad, not considering the subtext of the foods I am eating, such as nutrients, vitamins, healthy fats and unhealthy fats, cholesterol and minerals. The diet project underlined a three-day food entry intake that provided a dietary analysis report
In the original three day diet analysis, Susanne Coleman found that she was not eating from all of the food groups recommended by the food pyramid. Particularly, she was not eating the amount of fruits, vegetables and grains recommended. While she felt she made wise food decisions, there was room for improvement. When completing another three day diet analysis, Susanne received different results. After completing the original three day diet analysis, Susanne has been more conscientious of her food choices. Since the first analysis, Susanne has begun to plan meals ahead and to pack her meals for the day to stay on track.

My overall Kcal average for the three days I recorded was 4,318, while my Daily recommended intake was 3,484. In terms of Kcal, I am eating more calories per day than recommended. Breaking it down a bit farther to percent of carbohydrates, I ate 110 percent of my Daily Required Intake for Carbohydrates, specifically 39.1 g more than recommended. The daily recommendation for protein is ten to thirty-five percent,
For almost forty years, Americans have bought into the notion that saturated fat makes us fat and promotes diabetes, heart disease and obesity. This idea has been pounded into the American psyche for years. Yes, there are some truths in this suggestion but not as much as you may think. Nutritional experts hammered the idea that a plant based diet was best for the human body and animal products, along with other saturated fats, should not be eaten. Since 1978, research analysis has been printed, published and distributed across the nation, echoing these sentiments. Through the years, clinical experiments have provided much information of what type of foods make our bodies run like a well-oiled machine. Now we are learning this so called
Nutrition assessments include clinical and dietary assessment, anthropometrics, as well as biochemical, laboratory immunologic and functional indices of nutritional status (Gibney, 2005). In epidemiological studies, different dietary investigation tools were designed to assess the nutritional status in individuals and populations, nutrition monitoring and surveillance and diet-disease research (Friedenreich, et al., 1992, Taren, 2002).
One of the reason’s why I felt my nutrition needed to changes is because nutrition is a huge part of a healthy lifestyle, the way that we eat and what foods we consume can have a huge impact on our everyday lives. Nutrition plays a huge role in multiple facets of a person’s life energy, health, skin, weight, confidence, and more making having a good control on your eating habits extremely important. How we eat over the years and what foods we routinely choose to eat can eventually have a lasting effect on use and what we consider to be most appealing and appetizing at any given moment. Having these craving and routine habits makes eating, diet, and nutrition both a behavior and a lifestyle choice that can be changed over time with help from the theories learned in this class.
The purpose of this assignment was to analyze my personal dietary intake over the course of five days, in hopes to gain a better understanding of my general nutrition and health. A nutritional screening test was also completed and those results will also be evaluated. To begin with I would I would like to share that I already am aware I do not eat as well as I should. For example I eat out more than three times a week, and I have a big sweet tooth consider this, my results were not too surprisingly. In this discussion I will focus on the overall trends that I noticed with my intake of these particular important nutrients: carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals and water. According to the Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range,
Ms. Jane Doe was lying in her bed when I walked into her room this morning. I asked her, how are you doing today? Ms. Jane Doe stated, “ I feel good today but yesterday I felt terrible.” Ms. Jane Doe was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 10 years ago, after she had her last child. During her pregnancy, she had gestational diabetes and was able to manage this but after having her child, she did not continue to manage her diet. Ms. Jane Doe is a Hispanic, 58-year-old woman, who appears well groomed and well nourished. The way Ms. Jane Doe found out about her chronic illness was because she was having pounding headaches for over 3 days, was urinating frequently and gaining weight. She decided to visit her primary care doctor, where she found out
Since we have been learning about nutrition in class, our task was to record a food log. Nutrition requires a well-balanced diet containing nutrient and vitamins like amino acids and fatty acids. Over the past seven days I have been recording and have been looking very carefully at my intake of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and fats. In our task, the objective was to record the basic foods we ate during the period of seven, but it did not require recording every single detail or our intake of food. Doing this food log was a pain and it was disturbing because I never wrote about what I ate like breakfast, lunch, dinner, or additional meals. I found this food log useful because it helped me learn what I can change in my intake of foods to make my diet healthy and to see what about my diet is affecting me from being healthy because I could affect me in the future.
My current dietary practices are somewhat lacking when it comes to eating a balanced diet. Basically, my approach to choosing what to eat is to eat whatever looks good without a thought of its nutritional value. If I do think of the nutritional value of food I eat, I simply ignore such a rational thought and eat whatever I want anyway. I do reasonably well at drinking water. Now, this is not to say I never eat healthy meals but my efforts to in such a way have been lacking as of late. What I ate during this study was enough to get me through my days but I also did not exercise my normal amount any of the days because I was sick. Unfortunately, this means all my observations are slightly tainted but there are still valuable things I learned from this exercise.
Previously to taking this class, I had never given much thought to my eating habits. I always thought of the way I chose to eat as one of those things I didn’t need to concern myself with too heavily now because I’m a young broke college student. The way I eat is pretty similar to the way most of my friends eat and when you live away from home, that seems like the norm for people in college. However, after applying what I’ve learned in this class to my life, I’ve realized that the dietary choices I make now affect not only my current health, but my future health as well. So overall, I would say that my eating habits are pretty bad, but I’m working on making them better.
