When applying for jobs, each employer is looking for different things when looking at potential applicants. In order to ensure that your application will be stick out among the huge stack of resumes and applications, you must be able to look at the job ad and decipher what the employer is looking for in the future employee. Next, an applicant should look at their experience and skills and tailor their resume and cover letter to meet the specifications for the employees. For this assignment, I chose to apply for a summer internship with Deloitte. This is a job that I am passionate about and being able to learn how to tailor my application to a particular company could not have came at a better time. Since Deloitte is focused on getting the best and brightest talent from the university level, I wanted to be sure that this was highlighted on my resume. In order to do this, I added a list of relevant coursework to my education section in my resume. I added the upper-level accounting classes to this section, as well as other classes that are relevant to the internship I am applying to. Being an first semester junior and having already taken five 300-level accounting classes helps show that I am a motivated student who know what my goals are in the future and is something that for sure should be noted on my resume. The next change I added to my education section was to include the scholarships that I have been awarded. Before, I did not list any of these scholarships because I did not think that they needed to be on my resume. I was in fact wrong about this. Putting these scholarships helps prove the dedication I exhibit in my schoolwork and also shows how the hard work of getting good grades has paid off for
