Success means to live a life in alignment with what brings us real joy. In my case, “success-joy” comes in many guises. At times, in being persistent with my current dreams, others, investing time and energy in what makes my life shine, and that is, without a doubt, when my life is at service of humanity and when I cultivate happy and healthy close relationships. I tend to define success as a state of being, a constant process of unfolding rather than a place to arrive. It is the journey of getting to know ourselves, in order to fully occupy every aspect of what we are; a forever changing aspiration, a state of being in which we realize that life’s greatest rewards spring from our capacity to relate to adversity in innovative ways. I have also discovered that real success shows up again when we debunk and deconstruct every single stereotype and assumption we have about ourselves. In this way, we feel capable to challenge what is commonly accepted as wisdom and then we have the opportunity to change and integrate our values with greater ones. There is an enormous joy when we feel free to play with the possible new scenarios that our imagination and creativity compelled us to try. A successful state of being is alert and grounded within us with the certainty, that the choices we embark on are in resonance with what we consider is the truth of what we are in that precise …show more content…
moment. In a way, success is the ability to influence the outcome of my life.
Nowadays, in regard to education, personally I subscribe to the definition that a fulfilled life is the certainty that I am relaying in my own capabilities to self regulate, apply new skills and, find relevance in what I am currently learning. Therefore, the biggest barrier to success will be to get lost in a meaningless life style that is solely concerned with a materialistic approach and tormented with what I have to do to get to a “safe and predictable” future instead of following with curiosity and determination my true
passions. As an adult learner, the first barrier I had to overcome was my fear to the English language and, therefore, the believe that passing the GED was an almost impossible task to accomplish. Acknowledging fear is a humbling experience indeed. It took me deeper into the substance of education that today, for me, has to do with the internal process of figuring out this new identity that is being born within me. I am changing my beliefs, acquiring new values, setting new goals and enjoying new experiences with the guidance of professors, and especially my relationship with this new generation of students. Integrating my new identity at forty nine years old is a gift. I am enjoying every aspect of being a student. Moreover, I realized that all what I have lived so far was nothing but the foreward of what I am yet capable of living.
Hoosiers once said " If you put your effort and concentration into playing to your own potential, to be the best that you can be. . . in my book we are going to be winners". This quotation is relevant to the question of What does success mean to me? I believe success is about learning what you are capable of to achieve your full potential being successful in your life. For you have a better understanding, I will explain success is about being achievable in your own way and being able to see yourself grow in your personal life and perspective of how you see yourself becoming successful. Success is not only about the choices you make to become successful, but about how you approach the way to become successful.
To many people, success means the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. But what it really means is more than just that; is having a beautiful and amazing family of two boys and one girl, and having the best wife. Also, success means reaching my goals or dreams, like starting my new manufacturing and insurance business and keep working hard because in order to reach things I must be ready to fall and rise up. But like I said, to obtain where I want to be I’ll first need to finish college having my Bachelor in Accounting and start from zero. I never in my life thought that I was going to come this far because of what I lived when I was a little kid.
According to Danika Senzer success is “....being confident and loving what you are doing . As long as you are proud of what you have, I would call that success. It will always be different from person to person, but that is okay.”(Senzer 34). This quote is expressing what Senzer really thinks success is. Maddi Dukes states that , “I think that true success is knowing that you succeeded a goal you set for yourself. I think this is the definition of success because when you set a goal for yourself, and you have worked so hard to complete it,it feels like complete success.” (Dukes
Even though you may think you can succeed without a plan, every decision made will either help or hinder success because all actions have consequences and people who take personal responsibility succeed. Success to one person is not always the same to another, we all have our own definitions of success. To some, success may mean money and wealth. To others good health. To one it may mean a great job or doing a job they love. And to another a great family and home life. Whatever our definition of success, it is important to find out what the means to you. Success is the ability to give your all on a task that means something to you, to put every ounce of strength you have into giving it your best shot. It is being able to look back at your accomplishments, even if you did not reach your goals. It is also being able to smile because you knew you did your best, even if you did not accomplish that goal. Success is having the power and will to look forward and persevere with your journey or task after each failure without tiring, doubting yourself, or surrendering in defeat. Winston Churchill, a very influential and wise man, once said, among many other powerful quotes, “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm”. I agree with Mr. Churchill’s views about failure’s influence on success because success is a difficult journey that most people cannot reach on their first try, because failure is just another word for a success that just has not been reached yet, and because nobody would get
Ultimately, the desired outcome of academic success is to construct the ability to be a life-long learner. It means to feel prepared for the future by retaining information and applying the acquired knowledge in a real-life setting outside of the class. Evidently, mindsets are a substantial part of academic success. If a positive mindset is not established, then there will not be positive outcomes. On a personal level, I believe academic success is defined as the ability to get an education, achieve personal goals through learning, gain excessive knowledge from those experiences and eventually apply it to the future.
Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Success can be measured in many different ways. Some people may measure success by being financially stable, obtaining knowledge, getting a college degree, or having a high paying job. While those are all important goals leading to comfortable life, I would consider my personal description of success to be unlike many others. I value the relationships in my life above anything else. I direct my motivation towards my relationship with God, my spouse, family, and my friends. The people in my life are most important to me, because of the deep and intimate relationships I have with them. My goals in life revolve around the people in it, instead of material things or myself.
Success and happiness can be something as simple as paying it forward. Someone, who doesn’t have millions but has just a little extra, paying for Starbucks for the car behind them. Helping an elderly woman carry groceries to her car, holding a door open for others, or just simply smiling at a stranger and nodding. Those moments can be marked as a success because it shows character and if they can do one thing for someone else and smile then they feel as if they have done something. Not big things but simple things, that is what success

Success isn't something that comes without a trial and error. Everyone has tried and failed, but the feeling when the failure turns into success is one that nobody will ever forget. When people think of success, their brains instantly go in the direction of famous people with load of money, but that is not always the best example. One may be content living in a shack with their unconditionally loving dog, not a worry in mind, and consider themselves as successful. Others may only consider themselves a successful person if they are making over 300,000 dollars per year, living in a 4,000 square foot house and leave with a different set of keys in hand each day. Success is all about perspective, because success is something that people earn; it is not just handed to them like candy on Halloween night. The harder a person works, the more successful they are in the long run. Success, determines one's
Success can mean so many different things to so many different people. For someone, success can mean being rich. For another, success can mean being educated. Many people have different ideas of success. Where, however, can success be found? Can you just wake up one morning and already be successful? The harsh truth, is no. You can’t just wake up successful. You have to actually work hard (which some people in our generation don’t understand). Where and how can someone work to be successful? What are the steps a person in this generation can take, in order to be successful in the future? One thing’s for sure, success cannot be found while sitting on your couch, scrolling through Facebook… sorry.
This is setting and attaining educational goals. This could be either a formal or informal education. York, Gibson, & Rankin in the article Practical Assessment, Research & Evaluation, gave a definition of academic success as, “inclusive of academic achievement, attainment of learning objectives, acquisition of desired skills and competencies, satisfaction, persistence, and post-college performance. A young man, who has graduated high-school and college, and is further pursuing a master’s degree, with hopes of also bagging a doctorate degree, can be said to be attaining academic success. The path to academic success is definitely not an easy road, but its attainment is rewarding; just as Aristotle once said, “the roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.” Academic success is no doubt a key parameter in judging
According to Ms. Mirielle, “Success is the sum of all the efforts one has made to achieve the desired goal he/she has in his/her life.” Success is living your life with satisfaction and contentment. Problems are part of our lives but when you are successful, you can handle problems in a right way. Ms. Mirielle said that God truly blessed her family in everything.
What is success? The definition of success can differ amongst many people. Some believe that having a large amount of money, owning a luxurious house, owning the latest fashion, having the current technology and cars, is the key to success. Others believe that overcoming hardships achieves a measure of accomplishments. Success, in my opinion, means seeing a goal, understanding the obstacles, creating a positive mental picture, clearing the mind of self-doubt, embracing the challenge, staying on track, and showing the world that it is not impossible to achieve anything. True success requires respect, acknowledgement, honesty, and perseverance which are all qualities that, by human nature, are indeed challenging to acquire.
The definition of success is in the eye of an individual. Most of our life is spent working to become successful. Kids at an early age are told to work as hard as they can so they can achieve a great life growing up and can make lots of money. The word success can have different meanings. Each person has his/her own belief of what success means to them. For some, success is measured by popularity and riches; for others success is determined by the amount of happiness that they feel. In general, achieving success is when one meets their goals by following their dreams, regardless of what anyone says.
