The new imperialism describes a time of colonial expansion. The countries that participated in expanding smaller countries include by Japan, European powers, and the United States. This occurred in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These countries sought to gain more power and influence on the world. Imperialism had both a positive and negative effect on the colonizer and the colony. There were many positive effects that imperialism had on the colonizer and the colony.
