I turn around, the unsettling feeling of something following dawns on me. A wave of mist rushes over to me and blurs my vision. Crows cackle into the dark night and I’m suddenly aware of how alone I am. I start running, the fear of a creature lurking in the forest is my worst enemy. Constantly looking over my shoulder, expecting to see a monster staring into my soul. A light suddenly shines onto me and I am illuminated in the dark surroundings. Startled and confused I back away from the spotlight, thrown into complete darkness again. The light is being thrown around the forest, hungry for a living being. I crouch behind some bramble and hope the light disappears. The earth is silent. So silent I can hear my pulsing heartbeat. The clouds are still, as if they’re waiting for me to move. The trees are frozen, with dead leaves fluttering towards the ground. The wind softly sweeps my hair across my shoulders and hits my neck, leaving goosebumps between my shoulder blades. I am suddenly grabbed. A pain ripples through my arm as the claws dig their way through my skin. I look up to the monster. Its horrifying face freezes me. How can something be so frightening? It growls and tosses me over its shoulder, running into the darkness. My head hits a passing tree and I am thrown into an unconscious state. I run my hand across the dusty …show more content…

I have never slept since I died but I feel lighter than ever. I cannot leave the tower but I have the company of the man. We roam the dark hallways every day, soaking in each other’s company. I listen to his stories and he teaches me about the earth. One morning, I roam the hallways in my usual routine. The man is not with me as he is hunting. I decide to create a gift for him when he gets back. I spread dirt across a wall and craft an intricate image. I wait patiently for him to return, but he never does. I never speak or see him again. I am left in the tower to roam the hallways alone
