In the book to kill a Mocking Bird the story takes place in Maycomb, Alabama. Maycomb County’s setting was different depending on the weather. During the rainy weather grass was growing on the sidewalks, and the streets turned to red slope. During the hot days there were flies under the shade. The setting is important because the time of the book was when the Southern states where still racist, and they were living a poor life style. Another way the setting is important to the time of the book because winter comes to early, and it snows, so the neighbors want there flowers protected and the kids want to make a snowman so it works out for everyone.  Conflict The major conflict in the book “To Kill A Mockingbird” is when Tom Robinson is accused of raping Mayella Ewell, Bob Ewell’s daughter. And Atticus Finch agrees to protect Tom Robinson in his case. So the rest of the Finch family is taking racial abuse because their dad is protecting an African American. The conflict in the book is external because it is Tom against the town of Maycomb. Since he is African American the opposite race is looking badly upon him and anyone who is on his side. The conflict in the story is some what resolved Tom is still found guilty and is sent to jail. But tried to escape and got shot. Bob Ewell sent a lot of threats to the Finch family, and tried to kill Scout and Jem one night but Boo Radley saves them and stabs Ewell. The Sheriff knew that they would want to send the dad to trial to, he protect him and said Ewell must have tripped on his own knife. That is how the major conflict is resolved.  Plot The story is told by Scout through her eyes, and thoughts. The story takes place in Maycomb County. Scout and Jem went to school and didn’t start ... ... middle of paper ... ...Shoot all the blue jays you want but it is a sin to kill a mockingbird” I believe this quote relates to the theme of the novel because Tom is the symbol of the mockingbird he minded his own business, and was charged guilty even though he was proven innocent. And the racist people in the town are considered the mocking jays, because they are rebelling against a white man sticking up fro an African American. So I believe it means you can either do the good or the bad thing , it will only affect your future.,  Opinion My opinion on the book is that in the beginning it starts off slow and confusing, but near the middle it started to unwind, but part two was my favorite part of the book . I enjoy reading books about crisis because they lock my eyes on, the book and make me want to finish the book. I think the book was enjoyable, and I would certainly read it again.
