Some people may know about what happened in the holocaust and in the Guatemalan civil war but they don’t know that 11 million people were killed during the Holocaust (1.1 million children). 6 million of those victims were Jewish. Other groups targeted by the Nazis were Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, disabled people, and Roma. The Guatemalan army destroyed 626 villages, killed or “disappeared” more than 200,000 people and displaced an additional 1.5 million, while more than 150,000 were driven to seek refuge in Mexico. Both the holocaust and the Guatemalan genocide involved death, but the way victims were treated, the way the world reacted, and the types of people targeted were different.

They also didn't just go after the jews they went out for Gypsies, the handicapped, Slavic people, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses. Also, the way the world reacted once half of the Americans knew what was happening they didn't care because Americans looked upon Jews unfavorably.
