You don’t often think of heroism when you think of Greasers, but there are a few exceptions. I think that the character I have picked are very heroic, brave, and just overall great people.

Ponyboy is the younger brother of everyone in the gang but that does not that mean he cannot be heroic. Ponyboy and Johnny risked their life to save the kids life in the abandoned church. This does not only show heroism, but it also shows their friendship with each other. In my opinion Johnny and Ponyboy are the most heroic when they are together. Another example of this is when they two tell Dally to get away from the girls and sat beside them to protect them. Dally was harassing the girls and it took courage to tell Dally, of all people, to do something. Ponyboy also took Cherry to get popcorn while everyone stared at him. While Ponyboy was a greaser, Cherry was a Soc and you do not see one with the other. He also walked her to Two-Bit’s house …show more content…

Johnny and Ponyboy are good friends and this friendship really shined when Johnny saved Ponyboy by killing Bob. They were jumped by 5 Socs and Ponyboy spat in Bob’s face and one of the Socs stuck his face in the fountain. He would’ve drowned if Johnny had not done what he did. Before all this happened, we must talk about when Johnny agreed to run away with Pony without hesitation. Darry had slapped Pony for coming home late and the pair ran away shortly after. Johnny and Ponyboy ran away with the help of Dally, which we will get into later, and got to an abandoned church that caught fire by one of their cigarettes. There were kids inside the church and they jumped inside to save them. Johnny told Pony to jump out before him and in the process Johnny broke his back and got severally burned. To cut things short I think Johnny is a real hero and I hope he does not die from his injuries from the
