Working in a health care field requires people skills (personality characteristics that enhance our ability to interact effectively with other people) and technical competence. A health care management professional can determine the level of his or her education, unlike a doctor career. Cons: There are not very many jobs in the small communities for a health care management position so graduates in the field may have to relocate to bigger cities like Boston, New York, Chicago to get a job. Health care management professionals working in the lower level position may have limited or no education so they either have to go to college for advancement or stay in the same position throughout their life. Most entry level positions in health care management field pays less than $30,000 yearly. Although there are some cons of health care management career, I still think the pros outweigh them. Working in a healthcare management field is very rewarding even though the job market in the small cities and rural area is a little limited. I think that the implementation of the electronic health record system across the United States will certainly bring more jobs in those underserved areas. Being working in a similar field, I do enjoy the flexibility the job offers me. If I were working in a different department, I would not have an option of working and studying fulltime. Despite the fact that most of the entry level positions in health care management field are paid less, it is still better than how much other companies pay to their entry level
No matter what field I begin in, ER, maternity or intensive care. I will work as diligently and as efficiently as I could. It would not matter whether I had the day or night shift or if I was walking out the door to go home and a patient came in and needed help. Every patient that I work with will know I have the intention of helping them as well as I can. My personality is a “Persuader” which means I am most sociable of all
If you have someone who may have been in banking for several years as an administrator and hiring them to be a healthcare administrator you may find out quickly that you have hired the wrong individual. Yes they may have great leadership skills and communication and relationship management skills but if they have never worked in a clinical or hospital, or any healthcare setting for that matter, how do you expect them to be able to relate to the complex problems that may occur with patient care, hiring the right employees to oversee patient care, and in many cases, hiring the right employees to oversee the hiring of the employees performing patient care. There are also many different computer programs that are necessary for an administrator to know in order to run a health care facility in an effective manner. Yes, many different occupations have programs that they must learn in order to be effective, but in the health care arena many times there isn’t time to teach one from scratch on how to use such a program. One example of not having enough time is when a major natural or manmade disaster takes place. Many times an administrator may have to jump in and work with field staff or hospital staff to save lives without doing patient care and if they do not know how a healthcare environment works, they could cost the lives of innocent

...Overall, this is an interesting career and if someone would like to enter the healthcare field, without doing the on hands patient care, this a good path to follow.
Skill sets, as well as knowledge, vary from job to job. Roxanne Nelson, as author of the article,”Where the Jobs Are--Health Care: From High-Tech to High-Touch, Explore a World of Career Opportunities in Medicine and Health” states that,”Health-care jobs of every kind can be fulfilling. I have an unquenchable desire to learn and develop the mind. I believe, one of the greatest ways to better care for individuals, families, communities and the population was to pursue the Master of Public Health Program and concentrate on Community Health Education. With the Master of Public Health degree, I can better understand how to implement, plan and evaluate health promotion and disease prevention programs to better serve different communities. I want to pursue a master’s degree to focus on my career interest more in-depth. Choosing to pursue the MPH program is a lifelong self-fulfillment, because there is no greater satisfaction than knowing I am going to wake up every day to improve the lives of people all around the world. Higher education is rewarding and can open the door to greater opportunities. I aspire a career with a purpose, that is why I chose to complete my graduate
A Master degree is essential and it could be in a variety of areas including business administration, health administration, health services administration, or public health. Prior healthcare work experience is always an advantage since it provides an existing base of knowledge, which is not something that is easily picked up on coming from another industry. By the time I finish all my education, I will have years of experience from being employed at Rush as a research lab technician. My current work experience will be a great benefit for future
Continuing medical education (CME) is “the process by which health professionals keep up to date with the latest knowledge and advances in health care”. Today, the structured continuing medical education system cannot properly support the development of health professionals. CME has become structured around health professional participation instead of performance improvement. This has left health professionals unprepared to perform at the highest levels consistently, which could impact on health care quality and patient safety. Additionally, the lack of a mechanism for coordinating policies and positions across institutions and organizations is a major obstacle to achieving an effective CME systems.

I noticed that the work environment said that a lot of the medical/health service mangers are able to work with the physicians and patients to make sure that everything is running smoothly on both ends. I would excel at this job for the communication benefits, again it is amazing the ability you have to change someone’s life in this job role. Job responsibilities besides speaking to patients and physicians include, Represent the facility at investor meetings or on governing boards, make sure the place I run is up to date on new laws and regulations, supervise staff, manage the finances (according to online accounts this only means patient fees and billing). The ideal education for the position is already underway for me. A bachelor’s degree is at least needed to enter the occupation, but a master’s degree is ideal for the job (which I already planned on getting after my bachelors). The degree prospective employees have usually is business or something in the health related field (given they have spent a long time in the health field). The median salary for this role in 2015 was $94,500 per year. The job outlook for 2014-2024 is 17% which is much faster than average. The idea that you get paid so much to help others is a really exciting concept to me especially since it is a field that is growing every year. I personally did not even know about this job until this essay
I must have great leadership and management skills in order to succeed in this ever growing profession. Leadership requires someone taking charge and being a people’s person; two things in which I possess. There are some many routes that I can take with a Health Care Administration degree. I can manage and or direct medical services in many different setting. I will be the person in charge and duties can ranges form many different things and be very complex. This degree will allow me to show my leadership skills and think ahead. I will ensure that services that are provided in any facility that I work in will be the best services possible. I will do this by staying current and up to date with the regulations and statute. I know that all federal and state laws are important when it comes to governing healthcare. Certain facilities will allow me to oversee functions more on the administrative side such as billing, and creating employees work
In the process of deciding what I wanted to come to school for I contemplated on what type of management scene I wanted to focus on. The constant question of what area to go into was always coming up. After many talks and research, I decided to go into human resource management. Many people questioned and often said “Why human resource management?” My answer, I chose human resource managers because I believe they are a vital part of a hospitals success. They make the plans, they direct the staff and they coordinate how people work together and where they need to be. Throughout this paper, I will describe human resource managers- what they do, what are the requirements to become a manger in this field how they do it, who employees these managers, how much they get paid and why they are important to health care. Without human resource managers a hospital will not run effectively and efficiently.
Leaders in healthcare have so many daily obligations that they have to meet and be responsible for. Today’s leaders have to keep up with scheduling, flexing, covering vacation, meetings, their department as a whole, and make sure everything runs smoothly. With the ever changing healthcare nurses have to be up to date on new technology, training, and new education. The department head is not only a supervisor; she is a bedside nurse meeting multiple demands. She takes on tasks that include everything from the bedside nurse, to unit meetings, to charge nurse, and to scheduling, just to name a few. Speaking to leaders and managers in healthcare today the stress is at all time high from the new healthcare reform, nursing shortages, and meeting daily productivity.
