Malay Manuscript is a handwritten document in Jawi scripts, which is generated within the early 16th century until the beginning of the 20th century. The Malay Manuscript covered a wide range of subject matter includes literature, historiography, laws and legislation, letters, traditional medicine, poem, religious texts, tips, talisman, horoscope, storytelling fortune and so on. Manuscripts generally refer to unpublished original sources and have the characteristic of being unique. Currently, many of these invaluable sources are physically stored in secure archives and are accessible in a very restricted way to a handful of experts only, due to their fragile nature. Ding (1993) mentioned that, an increasing number of Malay manuscripts in libraries, especially those in private collections, are disintegrating. This problem has been with the Malay World since the very beginning. Deterioration may be due to acid embrittlement of the paper, unsuitable storage environment, biological attacks or human negligence and mishandling. A number of these manuscripts are already brittle to a point of being unusable. As mentioned by Aytac (2002), flooding, terrorism, bomb threats, explosions, transportation accidents, earthquakes, fire and war also prove dangerous threats to the written cultural heritage. And because of this, the author also stated that the world cultural heritage is continually at risk because of natural and unnatural disasters. Thus, the development of a digital library of Malay manuscripts would provide significant insurance against the loss of these valuable materials for use in the learning community. Farewell to Manzanar, by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston, describes the life of Jeanne and her family during World War II. During this time Jeanne was a young girl who could not comprehend what was occurring in her life. Jeanne and her family were forced to move to Manzanar due to government orders after the bombing of pearl harbor. After the bombing, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an executive order, that relocated all Japanese-Americans to internment camps. In the camps were Jeanne and her family were forced to live, her and her family faced difficult living conditions, conflict with other, riots, cultural conflict and racial issues.
One of the most famous unknown figures, as well as one of the most strikingly accurate sculptures of Ancient Egyptian artwork is known as the Seated Scribe; though its name is a more generic term, as it is unknown officially what this statue is called. There are many unknown mysteries behind this exquisite piece. The Seated Scribe, also sometimes called the "Squatting Scribe," is an ancient Egyptian structure discovered in Saqqara, displaying a seated figure at work, and is overall a very detailed sculpture admired by many. The ruins and the scrolls were dated by the carbon method and found to be from the third century which made them the oldest surviving biblical manuscript by at least 1000 years. Since the first discoveries archaeologists have found over 800 scrolls and scroll fragments in 11 different caves in the surrounding area. In fact, there are about 100,000 fragments found in all, most of which were written on goat skin and sheep skin. A few were on papyrus, a plant used to make paper, but one scroll was engraved on copper sheeting telling of sixty buried treasure sites. Because the scrolls containing the directions to the treasures is unable to be fully unrolled, the treasures have not been found yet. In all, the texts of the scrolls were remarkable. They contained unknown psalms, Bible commentary, calendar text, mystical texts, apocalyptic texts, liturgical texts, purity laws , bible stories, and fragments of every book in the Old Testament except that of Esther, including a imaginative paraphrase of the Book of Genesis. Mayan writing is one of the most beautiful but highly complex and difficult scripts in the world. It is a system that uses pictographs and phonetic or syllabic elements. The Maya used this sophisticated style to carve symbols into stone. The most common place for writing was the perishable books they made from bark paper, coated with lime to make a fresh white surface. These books were screen-folded and bound with wood and deer hide. They were referred to as codices, however only four remain today because of their perishable nature and Spanish book burning. The Maya writing system was one of the greatest achievements of their civilization.
If people were asked to define the importance of the books they would probably state that books are dead or will be dead soon. In “books a dying are? don’t believe it”, Anne Proulx expressed her views books. She suggests “every other week someone says that books are dead or dying”. The movie The Message by Moustapha Akkad tries to tell the story of Mohammad from the Islamic religion to an audience that may know nothing of the religion. As any representation of Mohammad is forbidden the movie never depicts or voices the Prophet using instead side characters who become the main characters to supplement the story. The creators also utilize an ingenious technique of second person filming.. The scenes which Mohammad was present the filming was done from the viewer's perspective that the remaining characters then spoke to. The handling of Mohammad’s epic tale along with stipulation of the religion was masterfully done. The Message acts as a wonderful medium to explore the story and historical life of the Prophet Mohammad.
A library or information unit must have a dedicated plan on having an organized Collection Development Policy, represents the guideposts of all types of library institutions. Collection development is the process of planning, selecting, acquiring and evaluating the library collections’ convenience to print and electronic collection developments. Thus, it is essential to have a written collection development policy, a statement of general collection building principles with desalinating the purpose and content of a collection in terms of relevance and internal audiences (Clayton and Gorman 2007). Broadly, the international and local libraries have sketched written collection development policies which they are aware of its uses. Recently, the written policies consistently renewed with the rise of digital collections. However, the value of the written collection development plan shakes with the complexity of managing electronic resources, funding and time considerations, criticism on how it written and also its inflexibility. This essay will examine the arguments for having the advantages of the written collection development policy (CDP) and the issues evolve which against the latter.
In the world of preservation and library science the common focus is on preserving content, ensuring its longevity, findability, and a stable consistent metadata and technology solution, However we live in an age where everyone is a publisher of some form, and more consistently the content they produce will be in a digital rather than analogue form. Within that content there will always be varying amounts of metadata, some will be populated with an immense detail and granularity, some content will have been created with no human intervention to add additional information to it. In fact much of the digital material produced will have been done so by people who have no concept of metadata, and no inclination to know about it or time to use it. The question raised by Smiths statement highlights many of the issues around data preservation and digital content, with metadata only being a part of those issues, but integral to the ongoing management of the massive influx of digital content being produced.

In conclusion, the documents Asokavadana, Life of Constantine, and The Life of Muhammad, Apostle of Allah give portraits of inspired me that helped pioneer the religions of Buddhism, Chrisitanity, and Islam. Religious documents are very important in understanding what that religion approves and disapproves of. The documents also provide historical facts about how the religions began and the important people that helped spread it. Without them, these religions would not be as strong as they are today.
However, iIn spite of the current pre-eminence of e-books, it may be argued that they are not likely to replace print books anytime soon or possibly at all. Both formats have their advantages and drawbacks, which makes for one of them difficult to replace the other. Moreover, they serve differents needs and purposes. Thus e-books don’t take shelving space and are convenient to take on travel, while even a few paper books are bulky and quite heavy to carry around.
