Where, oh where, should I begin telling you about how untrustworthy Mr. Wayne D. Sargent is?
It involves his completely unscrupulous, homophobic behavior and rotten attitude. He has unfairly depicted me and those who share my beliefs as fagots. Let me tell you, when he makes those insults I hear it, and it hurts my feelings. Mr. Sargent is fundamentally ignorant, small minded, and petty. In fact, he stands for everything he says he's against: If Mr. Sargent had even a shred of intellectual integrity, he'd admit that he has no conscience and therefore no feelings of guilt. Mr. Sargent should get down on his knees and ask for forgiveness as he is the ultimate source of alienation and repression around here. He will do everything in his power
Guilt is one of the most powerful forces known to man. It can drive the average man into a paranoia struck fool, ravenous for stability. Guilt can cause people to cave in from under them, revealing an empty and hollow shell. As children, we are conditioned to feel guilty when we do something wrong. As we get older, we learn that we receive praise and acceptance when we behave properly, or as is expected of us. Because humans have a strong desire to be loved and accepted, we do things in order to receive approval. Vera Claythorne was one of the characters mostly affected by guilt. In The Other Wes Moore, the author and a neighbor have the same name, Wes Moore, and they both begin their lives in similar ways. However, as their lives progress, they begin to part. For example, both “lost” their fathers when they were young. Because of the way their mothers respond to this loss, the boys’ lives begin to separate. Both mothers have different responses to challenges in general, which eventually leads them to respond to their child’s actions in contrasting ways. Throughout this novel, readers learn that depending on how a mother decides to react to the negative actions of their child’s actions, the child can either lead a successful life or lead a life of failure.
Facts: Chet is basically Gene's only real competition in school for valedictorian but Chet doesn't really notice it as competition because his love of learning is so sincere. Also, he is amazing as tennis and playing the trumpet, and was even asked by Finny to play at their winter get together when the band can't come.

The Liars Club is a story told as a memoir by Mary Karr and it is told from her point of view, and how she remembers certain moments of her life growing up in a small East Texas town. Karr talks mainly about her family and the people in her life who have all left a strong impression on her. In her story she describes and conveys the emotion and detail from her interactions with her family. While she focuses mainly on her relationships with her family, she demonstrates how she and her family defied stereotypical gender roles with their own strong which enabled them to cope with a hard life.

As minds become unstable, common sense begins to float away and seperate from the being itself. Judgement is thrown out the window and all that is left in the room guilt- a feeling that clouts the mind. Jimmy Cross- lieutenant of O’Brien’s 44th infantry division- while distracted by the loss of his men, would take a decision that would only worsen his already polluted conscious. Being too focused on the men he had previously lost, he had forgotten to take care of the men that were still living and breathing under his command. He decided to set up camp in an unlikely spot, which he would eventually reveal he knew was unfit and an easy target for the enemy; leading to his regiment getting bombarded and further regret. “ When a man died, there had to be blame. Jimmy Cross understood this. You could blame the war… A moment of carelessness or bad judgement or plain stupidity carried consequences that lasted forever.”( In the Field 143). Events could tragically hurt your mindset not only after the war, but during it. Leaving one to be left with guilt, as well as the responsibility of others’ death. War completely overshadows one’s judgement and could simply add on to its already heavy load on that person. Guilt is a powerful emotion that can completely consume one’s state of mind and lead to the multiplication of it; adding another burden to the hardships of battle. Christopher Johnson McCandless, a.k.a Alexander Supertramp, “Master of his Own Destiny.” He was an intelligent young man who presented himself as alone but really he was never lonely. However, he believed that life was better lived alone, with nature, so he ventured off throughout western United States before setting off into Alaska’s wild unprepared where he died. Some may say he was naive to go off on such a mission without the proper food and equipment but he was living life the way he wanted to and during his travels he came across three people: Jan Burres, Ronald Franz, and Wayne Westerberg.
