Trace changes in Frankenstein's character in his monologue from chapters 1 to 6.

In Frankenstein's story as he told it to Walton we can separate
Frankenstein's personalities almost completely. It is argued that the
'monster' may in fact just be Viktor's imagination. So, it is easy to see that before and after the night of the 'creation' of the monster, we see two different sides to Frankenstein: the normal man before, and the demented man after.

However, this may be seen as a sweeping statement. We must look in detail at the progression of Frankenstein's life. He is born into a loving family- 'I was their plaything and their idol…they seemed to draw inexhaustible stores of affection from a very mine of love to bestow upon
