As of 2014, an estimation of 1,665,540 people have been diagnosed with cancer in the United States alone. In the same year, 585,720 of those cancer patients will die. Everyone seems to be affected by cancer is some way; however, many people are not informed on what cancer is, how it can be prevented, and what alternative or natural treatments are available. Cancer is a general term for the uncontrolled, abnormal growth of cells in different parts of the body that can spread to other parts of the body (Sarg and Gross). However, there are several cons. Depending on the type of chemo, hair loss will occur. Hair from all over the body can fall off in some cases, or just thin slightly. It all depends on the type of chemo used. Nausea and vomiting are very common side effects in some cases. Other common side effects such as fatigue, low blood cell count, depression, stress, lack of exercise and appetite are also due to chemo. Sometimes chemotherapy can cause permanent changes or damage to the heart, lungs, nerves, kidneys, reproductive organs, or other organs (Turkington and LiPera).
