No Harm from the Armed Forces
On his 17th birthday, Cameron Griggs and his parents, drove to the office to pick up the papers that would change his life. Three months later he kissed his mum goodbye as mixed emotions of fear and excitement flooded his body.
Cameron had quite a number of family members in the military. His father served in the army for over 30 years and his grandmother in the Air Force.
Long, hard days of recruit training began for the army. Every day he was up at 6am, doing physical training, learning battle tactics and how to use weapons, lunch, going out to the rifle range, dinner, and then night lessons until 10pm.

The then got breakfast before he left for either PE or combat skills. He had lunch then continued on with what he was doing before until 4pm. Sometimes he would have a night duty where he had to guard the area.
He continued with this for almost another 5 years. During this time, he had his first child. A daughter name Shae-Lee Georgia Griggs. It was a very special time for Cameron. He had his own very special daughter to love and care for. He couldn’t bear to be away from his family so he made the decision to give up the army life in the tropics and move back down to Adelaide with his girlfriend, Kira Druwitt and daughter, Shae-Lee. There was a lot of uncertainty as he had no job to support his family but soon enough, he found a job as a Security Guard.
Cameron later found a job out at Olympic Dam as an explosives operator. He would either have to drive in and drive out or move his family to Roxby Downs. Kira had lived there as a kid and thought that it would be nice to raise her child there. So, he made the move with his little family. He later swapped jobs and became an underground truck driver. Endless nights driving around trucks just was not for him so he decided to apply for a role as an emergency services officer which earned him more money for something he enjoyed more.. This includes fire and rescue as well as helping injured
