The loss of the colonies was a fault on your part, due to greed and indifference to the motives of the British Colonists. While you may have seen the Colonies as a way to gain money for England and capitalize, others felt it was a branching out of the empire itself that you neglected. First the taxes from the Stamp Act and Townshend Acts made colonists feel it was impossible to buy anything of necessity without being taxed. This in turn lead to the rebellion in Boston known as “The Boston Tea Party”, an example of how the idea of the colonies were only for economic growth was proven insidious.
