Volunteering is a great way to change people's lives, including your own. There's a certain feeling of satisfaction of playing a key role in someone's life. Volunteering is a great way of giving back to your community while developing skills and gaining work experience that will help you in the real world all at the same time. For me, it was giving back in the thing I love the most. Baseball. My volunteer experience was conducted at Horner Park Northwest Little League, which is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Little League international. The purpose of Horner Park North-West Little league is the desire to expand and improve opportunities to kids of all ages to play the game of baseball. To me this increased my happiness when doing the work knowing that I could relate, because let's face it, no one wants to be bored all day with something they don't think is important. Also I think that my quality of work was improved since it was something I was more then happily doing. My family have shaped me to become a better person, and volunteering only reflected on that that. As I continue to grow in age, I now understand that helping others really makes you feel better about yourself. I know that when I volunteer I am only doing good for others, and it also reminds me that I should not be so selfish sometimes. It enhanced my education and development of the career I want to pursue. Many educational experiences can not be taught in a class. Yes, working without an actual pay can be a very hard thing to do. However, the experiences gained from volunteering can be the “pay” you are looking for. I created long lasting friendships, and also doing differant thing and seeing the fruits of your labor are addistional reasons why volunteering is something to consider. The volunteering oppurtunities are endless. From reading a book to a few 2nd graders in a classroom to building a house for the poor but as long as the personal motives are positive and you mean well in yourself it is very enjoyable.
