“There is one thousand times more enthusiasm for this revolution, in Paris then there is in all The United State together.” The revolutionary war was a war that the 13 Colonies and Britain fought in. The 13 Colonies fought on one side as the British fought on another side. The 13 Colonies were fighting for independence from Britain after there harsh laws against them. As Valley Forge was one of the harshest battle not just because of the fighting but because of the living conditions. A soldier in the Continental Army should not stay because of the harsh living conditions, you have a 10% chance of getting dying, and you will be on the winning side when the British win. To begin with 10% of soldiers there died due to illness. “There comes a soldier, his bare feet are seen thro his worn out shoes, his legs nearly naked from the tattered remains of an only pair of stockings…” Written by Doctor Wialdo in his Diary in 1777. This shows the men are not getting enough supplies or being cared for. While at home they could be sitting and living their lives. In the other hand people may call you a traitor but in reality you are not since you are on the side that was started with. “I am sick, discontented, out of humor, poor food, hard lodging, cold weather, fatigue, nasty cloaths, nasty cookery, vomit half the time.” This shows that nothing is good there, the soldiers not only have a bad time during the war. But many come back with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), many soldiers do not have someone to guide them or help them. PTSD does not go away, and sometimes it cause soldiers to go through depression or even give their lives up. In “The Winter Quarters” By Noel F.
