There are many different types of dyes, artificial dyes are the most common especially in America. Unfortunately, children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are sensitive to most artificial food dye. Food dye is popular in children’s food like cereal, fruit juice, and candy. Children consuming these foods will start to affect hyperactivity at a young age.
Added unnatural food dye is an inconvenience to people with allergic reactions to certain food dye. Most people who are allegic to food dye can’t drink bright colored beverages due to high amounts of artificial food coloring. Same thing goes with food. If companies would switch to natural dyes then more consumers would be able to purchase such snack food. Also

Now Kraft colors their food with natural dyes such as paprika, annatto and turmeric. Annatto is a popular natural food dye, Nestle will soon be changing the inside of their Butterfinger which will be dyed with annatto. These synthetic dyes are preferred more than any other dye by companies for the intensity of brightness of color and the uniformity it gives the food unlike some natural dyes would give. These dyes are derived from other food like grapes, potent fruit, spices like saffron, paprika and vegetables like carrots, beets and algae. It is not impossible for big companies to go natural, other countries such as great Britten have been dying soda such as Fanta orange with pumpkin and carrots. America on the other hand dyes Fanta orange with # Red 40 and # Yellow 6. Great Britten not only uses natural ingredients, they also don’t use added dyes to some food in large companies. McDonalds in great Britten does not even use dye for strawberries on their sundaes while America uses # Red 40 in their Strawberries mixtures.

It has recently been looked at due to indications that it might be unsafe for consumption. In this essay a couple main points and questions will be explained; what is sodium stearoyl lactylate, what are its effects both positive and negative, what are some indirect effects SSL has on society, is it ethical to use, and if sodium stearoyl lactylate safe for human consumption.
Today, millions of animals are captured in cold laboratories feared to be tested on once again across the country. Imagine living a life with constant pain, ache and loneliness, and to dream about roaming free. I believe animals should not be tested on for products because all living things should be treated humanely, there are other ways to test products, and millions of animals are put to their death because of the labs.

Hank Cardello, a former food executive, expresses the idea that grocers and other food executives do not have your best interest in mind in “What Grocers Don’t Want You to Know.” Cardello states that grocers set up supermarkets “like taking a choreographed tour through Disney World”(30). Getting to all of the products you want is easier than ever, but getting what you need has proven more difficult. During my own field research, I had discovered that getting the bare necessities (i.e. milk or even bread) were the hardest items to find in the supermarket I visited. It was even harder to find the truly organic form of these products. Why is it so hard to find something healthy in the food market? This is due to the subsidizing of these large food companies and them teaming with grocers to sell their products. Although it is hard to find these natural products, it is possible. Larger food companies use a lot of things to keep their items on the shelf. Preservatives are commonly found in these unhealthy products. Vileisis states in another chapter “Rise of the Modern Food Sensibility” that throughout history these preservatives have proven to be harmful. Organic food is heavily debated on as it appears more and more in local grocery stores and farmers markets begin to populate, it raises questions such as “Is organic food better than food grown with pesticides and biologically engineered genes?” and “Are there benefits to eating organically over foods grown in any other way?” In terms of what data and results show in research may help lead to answers to most of the heavily debated issues throughout discussions on organic food.

The method of producing processed foods is common in today's food industry and helps make money faster and efficiently for companies. Examples of this can be found in all markets that distribute food. Even though processed foods may be easier and faster to make, they are nowhere near as healthy for consumers compared to natural foods.
