Immigration is something that has been going on for decades. People immigrating to the United States are coming with the intentions of working for a better future. These people can come from Africa, Mexico, Europe, Afghanistan, Colombia, and many other countries all over the world. Instead of kicking these immigrants out of our country, we should give them the chance to prove themselves to the Americans that they are here to do better in life. Not by any means should we let just anyone come, but those who come looking for a better life and are willing to follow the rules should be given a chance. Families should not be living day by day with the fear or being separated, when all they’re doing is working hard for a better future to give to their …show more content…
These immigrants do not take jobs from anyone. The jobs that they do, no citizen from here would do it with how much work they have to put into it and how little they get paid. In “When the Going Gets Tough: The Differential Impact of National Unemployment on the Perceived Threats of Immigration” by Henning Finseraas, Axel West Pedersen and Ann-Helén Bay they state, “While economic competition theory predicts that economic concerns will be sensitive to the state of the economy, it gives us no reason to expect that concerns over immigrants’ cultural role will be influenced by the level of unemployment.” (62) Here we see that these immigrants should not be their concern. Immigrants have no way of taking other people’s job when they don’t even have the proper documentation to do that. The unemployment rate has nothing to do with these immigrants. The Unites States citizens are the ones that should be responsible for the unemployment rate. No one is taking jobs away from them, they are just not trying hard enough and going out looking for a …show more content…
These immigrants have to do everything possible so that they can get a chance here in the United States. In the “Automatic Detective” by A. Lee Martinez, Mack Megaton states that, “I was more interested in reaching my destination than recording the experience, but one room caught my attention. It was filled with biologicals, and many matched up with my alien theory. One, in particular, looked like a giant weed. There were no sentient plant mutations among Empire’s citizenry.” (Martinez 181) In Mack’s statement, we see that when goes to the other planet, he sees how they change everyone there so that they can all be the same. What Mack Megaton is illustrating for us is very much true. Immigrants coming from other places have to change their whole lifestyle and get used to being someone else just so that they can fit in with the new country they are in. When immigrants want to be here legally, they have to pass a test for their citizenship just like Mack did. The test that these immigrants have to take is extremely difficult, probably one of the hardest test ever. The test they have to pass includes history form the Unites States, rules of the nation, and many other different subjects. Many of the United States citizens who have been born and raised here would most likely not be able to pass
Competing for jobs against native Americans, immigrants are not only using valuable government resources from welfare and other programs, but they are also increasing the rate of unemployment. True, the jobs immigrants are tak...

The ones that are more in danger are the women 's and children that are trying to cross the border .Because the women most of the time theyy get keidnappingnd get repaid by the coyotes the people that help them to cross the border or they get killed and the families don 't never get to know nothing about them .The childrenthat are trying to get the American dream they are in lots of danger when
This article highlighted everything I find wrong with the “immigrants are taking our job” argument. Many Americans like to say that they can’t find a job and that unemployment rates are rising because of the number of undocumented immigrants working in the United States. However, when it comes down to the facts, the jobs undocumented immigrants take are not appealing to Americans in the slightest. They’re the hardest, more demanding jobs that require people to work in very dangerous, life threatening positions. I’ve met many people that are looking for work but have never considered – and would never consider – taking a job in a factory or working in a field. Immigrants take these jobs because no one else will do them and they need the money.
Immigration is the greatest part of American history. In the beginning, Immigrants brought a vast variety of cultures and beliefs and turned America in to the beauty it is today. Immigrants are still doing this. However, the issue with immigration can be it 's illegal status. Many undocumented immigrants are entering this country causing questions among the American citizens. Rather than asking if this is right or wrong, a solution can be found. Illegal immigrants come here for a purpose and can be helped with this purpose. Most come fleeing persecution, although some come here for more demented reasons. Those, illegal immigrants will be done away with. However, Those immigrants who come here for pure reasons need to be taken Care of in proper
Immigration has played a major role in the economy of the United States, creating both deficits and surpluses in the U.S. economy. Arguments have been made that immigration brings more negative effects to the United States economy than it does positive, whereas on the other hand, people claim that immigrants have taken a major weight of the economy of the U.S. and has even allowed the economy to make significant growths. Considering the fact that the total accountable population of the U.S. is said to be made up of approximately 13% of immigrants, many arguments have been made for and against the entrance of immigrants into the United States. Immigration has effects upon the work force, the living conditions, the poverty rates, and other contributing
Immigration has quickly come to the surface as one of the United States’ major problems. More specifically, illegal immigration on the Mexican border. Everyday more and more people sneak across the border in hopes of a better life. Many Americans consider it to be a bad thing, but it is not. In some ways these people do improve our country. People of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds cross the border. Many are women and children looking to start over. About 175,900 immigrants enter the US every year from Mexico. Some things that come along with immigration are border militarization, amnesty, deportation, and the threat of terrorism.
Most people say that migration of Mexicans to America is a big problem in our country. They say that every immigrant is bad and all they bring to America is drugs. Well that is not true because immigrants actually help this great country. Today we are going to focus on Mexican immigrants. We will talk about different views that people have on it. We will talk about what an immigrant really is. Also define how people think immigration is a problem, causes of why people migrate from one country to another, consequences, and ways we can deal with immigration.
Many people believe that immigrants are stealing Americans jobs, proprietor of the Capitalist Pig blog, Jonathan Hoenig, explains; “The fact that foreigners are eager to pick crops, clean houses, bus tables and produce allows more of us to afford cheaper food and better services, affording us even more wealth to enjoy and invest. It’s not the immigrants, but the
Many americans claim that illegal immigrants come into the u.s and take their jobs. In 2012 8.5 million jobs were taken by immigrants. (Passel, Jeffrey S. and D'Vera Cohn, Federation for American Immigration reform,p.2)Yes, many immigrants have jobs in the U.S but most of these jobs are all minimum wage. Facts actually show the types of jobs immigrants are taking. Most illegal immigrants work in hard, awful environment factories. They work extra hours just to have enough money to get by. People are mad at the fact that they have jobs here but truth is they wouldn't take those jobs anyways. If all immigrants workers leave, who would do these j...
Everyday over 11 million people battle with the fact that they can’t be legal in America. Hiding in the shadows, petrified of what might happen to them if they are caught trying to help their kids and families be successful in a safe home. Millions of undocumented immigrants are denied a “path to citizenship” due to immigration laws. These laws need to be altered and should allow these hurting families a chance to be legal. If these immigrants get deported, the United States is losing vital resources, they will fear losing their families, and since they are trying to get right by law, why not give them a chance? Furthermore undocumented immigrants are worthy to fight for, and this is why.
Throughout the past centuries, immigration has had many positive and negative impacts on our country and society. Law and order have been the founding cornerstone of our democracy, and the mandate of the U.S. Constitution is for Congress to do the work of the people and that of the nation. Immigration has continuously been a passionate debate within our society. This particular topic will always be a sensitive subject due to Americans personal beliefs and morals. Some citizens believe that illegal immigrants should not be able to work in the United States for any reason, while others believe illegal immigrants are helpful to our economy.
Thanks for commenting. I agree with many of you points, however I do not believe that immigrants are taking the jobs of able Americans. Farm work, gardening, and other labor intensive jobs are not be filled by U.S. citizens (possibly having to do with low wages), so why would it be an issue if these immigrants decided to work in these fields? In addition to this, refugees can create their own businesses, so this doesn’t necessarily take jobs away from American workers. Unfortuanely there are many unemployed Americans, however in many cases, it is a matter of multiple applications and having the right skills. If people are not qualified for the job, then obviously it should be given to someone with the proper credentials. If immigrants have these skills then why wouldn’t a company want to hire them, versus someone who is lacking the specific background and or education?
Since its birth, America has continually thrashed out who should or should not be allowed to dwell within its borders. Such is still true in 2017, with a President whose biggest campaigning points dealt with immigration reform. President Trump’s controversial travel ban was struck down by the 9th circuit court largely because of its blatant discriminatory nature against those who practice Islam. While those three federal judges and most of the American people were able to discern the discrimination in that particular proposal, there are a plethora of others that are not able to make that same association concerning immigration law and the US-Mexico border. Kevin R. Johnson, Dean of the School of Law and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest
Immigration poses an ongoing debate in which people are becoming increasingly unsure as to whether immigrants are benefiting their society. This paper will examine three of the main benefits of immigration: the increase in diversity it provides, the rise in skills and labor and the benefits to the economy. Immigration leads to cross-cultural integration, therefore increasing ethnic variety. This increase in diversity is beneficial as it leads to improvements in society, as well as educational development. Increased immigration also means there are more skills and experts available to the hosting countries, as well as extra workers to take up jobs that need filling. Immigration also leads to improvements in the economy as taxes are paid and employment and wages increase.
Although the truth is that these illegal immigrants are taking legal citizens jobs. As illegal immigrants acquire jobs, they take place in legal workers jobs, leading to the average wage going down for the rest of the legal work force because illegal immigrants get paid significantly less. The United States is a democratic nation and is dependent on the citizens to help out with the making and following of laws and policies.
