Argument Essay

People often times single me out for being a christian. They just love asking me about touchy subjects to see my response. And this is because, unfortunately, there are so many christians who have this idea that the whole world needs to see things the same way they do. You see so much hate coming out of a religion that claims to preach peace and love. Christians see it as protecting the bible but it just comes across as ignorant. I am not saying I don’t share in the opinions of many christians, but more than anything I am saying that christians need to learn that not everyone in the world is going to see it the same way they will. When it comes to sin, same sex marriage, and living a holy life there are more than one opinion on what is right. So, you can’t justify all of the hate-acts in the name of your religion. Instead use all that energy you waste on hate to love and help those around you, despite whether you think they are “right or wrong”. I believe that that’s what God is more concerned about. But, aren’t as christians we suppose to turn away from all “evil”? Well, John 8:7 states that, “...He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” This tells the story of a woman caught in the act of adultery and the Pharisees wanted to stone her. But Jesus came and pretty much told them that the only way they could justify doing that was if they were perfect. So unless you are the epitome of a perfect christian how can you justify showing hate to those who aren’t perfect? John 15:12 says, “This is My command: that you love one another [just] as I have loved you.” God is love. That is what God has always been. And as he has shown us unfailing love and forgave us of what we’ve done wrong we should also forgive oth... ... middle of paper ... ...ation that you believe is right. 10 different people can read the same passage and all get something different out of it, and all of them could very well be right. Although, I’m not saying that within the bible there isn’t things that are stated that you should and shouldn’t do. I’m just trying to say that you should focus more on making sure your life fits what you believe God wants from you. That you should influence people by the way you live and make them want to be a better person, but it has to be their own choice. Because, to be honest, if you are living the way you should then other people are going to want to live that way too. If you are doing it right, that is. I’m tired of seeing so many so-called-christians protesting and showing so much hate and negativity towards everyone who see’s things different than them. That’s not what God is about. God is love.
