The Bilger Story How far of an proportion would you go to care for your pet? In the story " The Last Meow" by Burkhard Bilger ( established on September 8, of 2003) their was a cat named Lady who needed a transplant, not only did she need a transplant, she already had no teeth and was blind. I personally think that Lady's owners shouldn't go through with her procedure. I mean she already has no teeth and can't see, so what's the point? Moreover, from my point of view, I myself would have put my animal to sleep, no matter how much I loved that pet. Any procedures or observations over $100, i wouldn't pay for. I mean not everyone live forever, everyone has to die at some point. In the Story the owners Karen and Shawn have to pay a fee of
For the mass population of pet owners, pets are considered a treasure, so the conversation of how much is to be spend on them is a hot debut. I do agree with Burkhart Bilger's Argument that, “Our love affair with pets our pets has gotten out of control.” but I contend with the ideal that it is a widespread problem. I still insist that owners should show attention and love to their pet but so without the overspending in regards to your income. This topic is brought up in Bilgers’ article “The Last Meow” where he uses different facts, examples, and stories that back up my position.
People take pain killers at the first hint of pain, What happens when you can’t afford that for your pets? In the blog, “Is It Ethical to Euthanize Your Dog?” (2011), by Elliot D. Cohen, Ph.D, Cohen shares the heavily biased argument for euthanasia, favoring the against side. Cohen’s purpose was to inform the readers about the ethical dilemma concerning euthanasia. Euthanasia can be the ethically and morally correct decision for a couple of reasons; pain and suffering of your pet, overall quality of life, and the tremendous vet bills.

Four journalists named Helen Jones, Larry Andrews, Marcia Glaser, and Fred Myers thought it would be a good idea to create a nonprofit organization to help animals that have are treated cruelly by either abuse or when they are left alone. The Humane Society has been helping animals since November 24, 1954(2). Their mission since the beginning has been celebrating animals and confronting cruelty. There are a great number of things that the Humane Society has been doing for the animals, like saving them from people who want to harm them. The list of animals that the Humane Society helps is very long, because they don’t just help the household pets that you might have thought. The conditions of the Humane Society change due to the types of animals
The Black Cat is short story written by Edgar Allan Poe. The Black Cat is told by an insane narrator who introduces us to his cat named Pluto, the narrator and Pluto have a weird bond. Later on in the story the narrator shows signs that he 's an alcoholic when he would mistreats his wife and the couples other animals except Pluto. Until one night the narrator comes home drunk and he thinks Pluto is avoiding him so he picks up and the cat bites his hand. In which the narrator takes a knife and stabs the cat in the eye, which puts a strain on the relationship resulting in the narrator hanging the cat from a tree. And that same night the house burns down. Months pass by and the narrator notices a cat similar to Pluto in fact the cat is missing
Thousands of animals are put to sleep each year due to not having any available homes for them to be adopted. According to Jennifer Sexton and Tom Warhol in Domestic Animal Overpopulation, “The average female cat can produce two litters of six kittens per year, a female dog can produce one litter of six or more puppies per year, making pet overpopulation a significant problem.” Animal overpopulation is costing money and you can help the pets with spay and neutering programs. A new solution is mandatory contracts for breeders and spay and neuter programs. This paper will talk about spay and neuter programs, contracts for breeders, and why some people don’t think animal overpopulation is a problem. Thankfully there are solutions to this issue of animal overpopulation.
Also communication in this situation will give the client a feeling that they are in safe hands and that the veterinarian knows what they are doing when is comes to making the last parts of their pets life as smooth as possible. Giving clients plenty of time to come to this decision is important, also giving them time to take everything in and speak about there concerns and emotions.
Have you ever wondered how much it costs to have and maintain a pet? Burkhard Bilger, the author of “The Last Meow”, explains how Americans spend a lot of money on their pets and that people's “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control. An observation I have made is that in many movies dogs are treated very well. When I was younger, I watched a movie called Bratz and one character would always have her dog inside a dog purse and they would even get manicures and pedicures together. The dog always had shiny clothes on and it was always very clean. Therefore, I agree with Bilger's argument that Americans “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control.
As with other forms of casualty insurance, the deductible has a great effect on the cost of premiums. After looking at various quotes and policies the most cost effective type of pet health insurance, in my opinion, is that with a moderate deductible ($200-$500), high annual limits on coverage, and wide coverage for illnesses(including congenital) and accidents.
This lesson will explore the themes of molecule motion and surface tension. While these themes may seem very complicated, we will break down the topic so the class learns a basic overview. Our audience is guided towards a sixth grade class, therefore these are still lower level thinkers. We will start off our presentation with the creation of a KWL chart on the white board. The K sections, which stands for previous knowledge, will be filled out prior to the beginning of the Power Point. This will be done by asking the class what they already know about molecules in general. The next section of the KWL chat is the W, which stands for what they would like to know. Once again through a group discussion, to engage the entire class, we will write questions that through discovery learning we will find the answers to.
Due to the domestication of cats and dogs their populations have skyrocketed. This is due in part to the lack of pet owners acting in a responsible manner. These responsibilities include the spaying and neutering of pets. These numbers of
Author Edgar Allan Poe is no stranger to the compelling literary language of horror, and he displays his comfort with the classic elements of the genre in his short story “The Black Cat”. This twisted tale is told from the perspective of an anonymous narrator, describing his blameless hand in the murder of his beloved cat and his wife. The deranged narrator tells his version of the horrific events, while trying to convince the reader that he is a sane man. In “The Black Cat”, Edgar Allan Poe utilizes the narrator’s appeals to ethos and dramatic imagery to illustrate how the acceptance of a disturbed disposition can consume the sanity of the most docile man, and turn him into a violent monster, demonstrating that all humans are susceptible to the influence of evil.
