Has anyone ever shown bravery in your life? Bravery is someone who’s not afraid to step up to the challenge, Like in the book The Hobbit Bilbo shows that quite a few times, and an article about a cop saving his partner. Bravery is someone who has courage and is not afraid of something others might be afraid of , anyone can be brave and it can happen when you least expect it.
In the book The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, Bilbo seems to be very brave because he is a hobbit who didn’t like adventures, but he decides to go on one and shows that he has courage , and he is not afraid of something that others might be afraid of.
Bilbo was a hobbit that didn’t do very much, but when Gandalf comes to ask him to go on an adventure he didn’t know if he wanted to go. When bilbo says that he’ll do it he seems to be a little shaky at first, but as the book keeps going bilbo gets braver, and saves the dwarves from danger on the way to the Lonely Mountain. Bravery is where people have a lot of courage to maybe sacrifice something for someone. There has been a lot of bravery throughout the world, and many people do it differently. Also bravery can be someone who does it when others don’t expect it to happen. Like in the book The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, the spiders captured the dwarves and Bilbo saved them, and led the spiders away from the dwarves. Such as the quote” I shall draw the spiders off, if I can; and you must keep together and make it in the opposite direction “( Tolkien, 165). Bilbo shows bravery because he led the spiders away from the dwarves, so the spiders wouldn’t hurt them. Bilbo is happy to visit the elves and have tea with Gandalf, but he is also just as happy to relax in his hobbit-hole and enjoy the comforts of home that he longed for so much on his journey. Bilbo Baggins undergoes a hero’s journey in The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. He departs from his home, is initiated into a more mature mindset, undergoes a road of trials, goes through his innermost cave, and is returned home and reintegrated into society. Bilbo’s journey is also a quest for self identity, because he realizes his place as “quite a little fellow in a wide world” and learns to balance out his respectable Baggins heritage with his adventurous Took background (Tolkien 363).
The Hobbit, Bilbo went with Gandalf. He was brave because he was part Turk. He wanted to find out if their was any Turk still left in him, He realized his strength, he was kind even though they came to his house without asking and tore up his house. Bravery is like a very trusted friend, it will never let you down. That statement holds true in the great epic of "Beowulf." "Beowulf" is the story of a great hero who comes to the aid of a troubled king. Beowulf hears that king Hrothgar is having trouble and immediately comes to help with no questions asked. he defeats the monster, Grendel, with his bare hands. Beowulf then defeats Grendel's mother along with a dragon until he is fatally injured. Bravery is a very admirable characteristic that few people possess.
In conclusion, it is through Bilbo’s intelligence and courage, and the loyalty he showed to the others around him that establish him as an indubitable hero. Bilbo was able to heroically lead the dwarves and without his contribution in the adventure, it would not have been possible for them to achieve what they did. Bilbo is a small person with a big heart, who was able to make a difference without fighting or using his power to change anything through force. He was able to demonstrate his compassion, innocence, and ethics in his development into a hero. Nevertheless, his heroic deeds did not change whom he is as a person, which contrasts greatly with how a hero is defined today. Overall, Bilbo was a hobbit with courage that contributed into shaping his world into one where honesty, peace, forgiveness, and merry meals make it a better place.

Fear and terror sometimes hinder the determination someone can show. Overcoming this fear is what portrays bravery. Bilbo cleverly eluded Smaug’s temptation, spared the life of foul creature Gollum, and demonstrate courage more and more throughout his journey. These exquisite traits made Bilbo into the revered character that was loved and respected for generations of readers. Throughout the book, Bilbo’s character had changed. He remains good hearted throughout the story. At the beginning of the novel Bilbo is neither an adventurous nor brave hobbit. He prefers to stay in his hobbit hole and keep to himself, he is scared of the outside world. Bilbo, at the time, agreed with him. Eventually Bilbo saved his life and Thorin became family to him. Throughout Bilbo 's adventure he goes from being unheroic to courageous and heroic. One example is when he fight off the Great Spider to save the dwarves with the sword he names sting and says that he feels more confident and fierce, from there on he progresses to become stronger and at the end Gandalf says to Bilbo,"Something is the matter with you! You are not the hobbit that you were."(203). From that you can tell that Gandalf has seen the changes, most of the changes come from the ways he saves
What is bravery to you? How would you define it? How would you describe your own bravery? This word can be talked about and shown in many different ways. Bravery can be when you go out of your way to do something good for someone or to help them in any way. Being brave can be nothing like being fearless. Some may understand that bravery is being terrified to do something but doing it anyway. You could be scared. This could put yourself or your life in danger. You may have to have some courage and support to do this. Being brave is showing you're willing to go above and beyond for something. You never know when your going to have to step out of your comfort zone and sacrifice something in order to be brave.
