Ever wonder why the climate has been changing lately? Do you want to know why global warming has started to become a bigger issue? well here are some of the reasons linked to these recent changes in the world all around. The world’s climate has been changing and this is causing the Amazon to release more carbon dioxide than it is absorbing, This is causing the Atlantic Ocean to rise in temperature because of the climate change, The dry time is putting all the vegetation at risk of dieback and global warming will continue to be an issue if the amazon keeps letting off gases, This is causing the health of the plants to be down, they are losing their color, with the help of NASA using their satellites to detect levels of carbon dioxide and plant health we can get data on why the amazon is doing this. The climate in the Amazon is far from normal, Its dry and slowing dying. Devin Powell has been observing climate change in the Amazon for years. There has been greenhouse gases being produced and released causing global warming issues. When there is a dry season the rainforest releases the carbon dioxide but when there is normal rainfall the plants actually absorb the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. If there isn’t any rainfall and the dry season lasts too long, the rainforest will not survive. This could cause very large amounts of greenhouse gases to be put into the atmosphere (5). Greenhouse gases is some of the cause of why global warming is such an on going issue. Global warming is being determined by the way the Amazon Rainforest’s climate has been. The Atlantic Ocean has been affected by the recent climate change in the Amazon. The water temperature of the ocean has rose. ...ction. Lots of indians die because of the Amazon getting destroyed. The climate is changing because of so much of the disappearing of the rainforest. In every 40 years 20 percent of the Amazon is completely gone. Sadly in about 30 - 40 years we will not have a Amazon rainforest. People are clearing out the Amazon because they want to grow plants and food but we used to have a lot of food but because of the Amazon getting destroying the we don’t have as much, and people want to clear out land for plants and foods but because of destruction the soil will dry out and we will have no more exzotic fruits. As you can see the Amazons environmental problems are devastating.
People have been trying to find out what role does the Amazon rainforest plays. Also there are many shifts of climate in the Amazon rainforest. Each year 28 million acres of land is burned, and cutted down causing deforestation. Killing many living species in that process. If this continues, then very many plants, and animals are going instinct in areas.
There are many rainforests in the world but one of the biggest one is the Amazon rainforest, which is located in the northern half of South America and lies in the countries of Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Bolivia. The Amazon also lies in between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer. The size of the Amazon resembles the size of the United States from the Atlantic Ocean to the Rocky Mountains. Since this rain forest lies next to the Equator, the climate is warm and humid. The average temperature is in between sixty-eight to ninety- three degrees. The Amazon has two seasons but each one is six months each. They are classified as the wet season and the dry season. The wet season occurs between December to May and the dry season occurs between June to November. The average rainfall is fifty to two hundred and sixty inches per year. The forest floor only gets up to two to five percent of sunlight since the canopy blocks the sunlight from getting to the forest floor. The Amazon rain forest got the nickname, the world’s pharmacy, because many medicines have been found in the tree bark, the tree’s leaves, and other parts of the trees.
The Amazon Rainforest has been affected immensely by deforestation. Many of its trees are cut down for human use daily, greatly reducing habitats for native animals to

John Muir once said "God has cared for these trees, saved them from drought, disease, avalanches, and a thousand tempests and floods. But he cannot save them from fools." This quote is too true when describing the predicament the Amazon rainforest is facing at the very moment. By the time you finish reading this essay, a portion of Brazil’s rainforest, which is larger than 200 football fields, will have been destroyed. Humans must stop cutting down the trees in the amazon rainforest because it leads to many plants and animals being harmed and losing their homes, many people being harmed, and environment of the Amazon being destroyed.
These number projections mean threatening futures for deforestation dynamics, carbon fluxes, forest fragmentation, impacted ecosystems, social issues, and climates both in the region and the world. Recent changes in the Amazon River basin are a direct result of deforestation. Climate change in the area highlights the negative impact that the loss of tropical forests in this area has had. Because the presence or absence of vegetation is directly influential in regional climate, shown through controlled numerical experiments with complex models of the atmosphere, studies have shown that the changing climate of this area is due in large part to deforestation. Moderate and localized deforestation has caused a local reduction in precipitation of -220 to -640 mm/yr, evaporation of -164 to -500 mm/yr, an increase in surface temperature of 0oC to 3oC, and a decrease in moisture convergence of the area (Lean, Werth).
In 1993 an experiment was conducted in the Amazonian Rainforest to test how dry soil would affect the ecosystem. The scientists built a 30 by 30 foot roof that would simulate a dying section of the rainforest by not allowing rain drops to fall from the leaves to the jungle floor . Previous experiments showed that moist soil would absorb methane, a potent greenhouse gas . The scientists hoped that in the face of extreme climate change, a dried out Rainforest would absorb more methane and would control the amount of methane, the key ozone destroying gas . Over 4 years of studying the opposite was found; the protected soil emitted up to 3 times more methane than the unprotected soil . Sulfur dioxide ejection into the atmosphere has a way of changing the
Rainforests once covered 14% of the worlds land surface, however now it only covers a mere 6%. It is estimated that all rainforests could be consumed in less than 40 years. Trees are becoming more needed and used everyday. We need them cut down for many reasons such as paper and timber, while also needing them ‘untouched’ for other reasons like oxygen, we have to ask ourselves, which is more important? At the current rate, most of the rainforests are being cut down for resources like paper and timber, but less importance is being placed on main resources like oxygen.
During the past several decades, changes in the global climatic pattern has become evident and has attracted much attention from both the general public and the professional environmental organizations. Deforestation is one of the main reasons for these known changes. One of the reasons that cause the disappearing of the Amazon rainforest is industrial logging, which is the single largest problem. Other problems that also contribute to the disappearing of the Amazon forests include road construction, cattle ranching, and the production of wood products, all of which are important factors to be considered. The Amazon rainforest is the world's largest rain forest today, which has 54 percent of the total rainforests that are remaining on the planet. If Amazonia is a country, it would be the ninth largest country in the world. The Amazon is very important because it is a major contributor to the balance of global climatic patterns and because it provides places for variety of living organisms. A single pond in Brazil can contain more kinds of fish than are found in all of Europe's rivers. Twenty-five acre of rainforest in Borneo may contain over seven hundred species of trees, which is equal to the number of trees in the whole North America; one single rainforest in Peru has more bird species than the entire United States. One tree in Peru had forty-three different species of ants, which is the estimated to be equal to the number of ant species in the British Isles. The Amazon rainforest is truly amazing. The Amazon Rainforest is the world's largest tropical rainforest that we have today on our planet. It covers a wide range expanding almost entirely across from East to West of South America. It is most famous for its broad biodiversity and includes the famous Amazon River that is home to rare and diverse species. Today, the Amazon Rainforest is under threat of complete deforestation and has greatly lost more than half of its tropical rainforest due to cattle ranching, soy bean farming, sugar cane plantations, palm oil and biofuel agriculture. The indigenous people are doing their best to fight against the government to protect their land and conserve the rainforest but without capital finance, it is seeming to be an impossible project.
The Disappearing Rainforests Conserving the rainforest is a global issue of great importance. Tropical rainforests provide a habitat for animals, a unique ecosystem for vegetation, and an abundance of resources for humans, yet they are being destroyed at an astonishing rate. Experts estimate that if these endangered territories continue to be consumed in this manner, no more will be standing in forty years (Rainforest). Examining the social, environmental, and economic costs of the continued destruction of the Earth's tropical rainforests will prove that deforestation for short-term profit is ultimately not viable.
