The science project I am going to conduct contains me trying to find which amount of surface area of an Alka-Seltzer tablet gives off the most gas bubbles once I drop the tablet into water. The Alka-Seltzer tablets will be crushed into different equal surface areas ranging from crushed to cut in halves or in quarters. After that I will then add the Alka-Seltzer tablets inside of the balloon.(¨Bubbles, Gas, and Balloons¨) I am going to measure the amount of gas bubbles the Alka-Seltzer tablet gives off by attaching a balloon to the top of my Erlenmeyer flask and then measure the circumference. ALKA-SELTZER The Alka-Seltzer tablet is a medicine tablet taken by people as an antiacid to help calm down stomach acids which can lead to heartburn.(¨Carbonation Countdown¨) The Alka-Seltzer tablet is also used as a pain reliever. The pain reliever has aspirin and citric acid in it while the antiacid also has citric acid but instead of aspirin the antiacid has sodium bicarbonate, which is also known as baking soda. Aspirin was not officially trademarked until March 6, 1899 when the Imperial Office of Berlin made it official. It has been used for the last 110 years, but its natural form, salicylic acid has been around for thousands by Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. Aspirin is available in over 80 countries and known as the best non-prescription drug. The most common use of aspirin is to cure headaches and use it as a pain reliever, but aspirin is known to prevent heart attack and strokes. It was first proposed in 1940, but wasn’t confirmed until 1970 when doctors would recommend taking aspirin daily [1].
Regarding the densities of Coke and Diet Coke, I believed that the density of coke would be greater than the density of Diet Coke. Because the content of Coke contains more sugar than Diet Coke, it would contain more mass and since density is mass dependent, Coke would be denser than Diet Coke. From the results of the experiment, there was a slight difference between the densities of Coke and Diet Coke. The measurements obtained from the pipette and the graduated cylinder demonstrated that Coke is denser than Diet Coke while Diet Coke was shown to be denser than Coke using the burette. With the pipette, the average density of Coke is 1.02 and the average density of Diet Coke is 0.99. With the graduated cylinder, the average density is 0.976968 and the average density of Diet Coke is 0.95. With the burette, the average density of Coke is 0.99 and the average density of Diet Coke is 1.0. Among the three instruments, the most precise was the graduated cylinder and the most accurate was the volumetric pipette. Since density is defined as mass/volume, changing the volume of Coke or Diet Coke would have changed.
Displacement is a method used to find density that is associated with the Archimedes’ principle, which states that when an object is submerged in a liquid, it will displace its’ volume. In this experiment, displacement was used to find the volume of a group of beads, which were small, multicolored, smooth, and round with a large hole in the centers. After finding the volume that the beads displaced, the density was calculated by taking the mass of the beads and dividing it by the volume of the beads. Displacement was used for four trials for each individual, which summed up to twelve times for the group.

Such as Trident gum it is not very pliable but double bubble very pliable when flattening out the gum. There was human error in this because the 5% should have produced more CO2 because it had more sucrose which means there is more glucose for the yeast to produce CO2 with. There was not enough agitation for the yeast to start producing CO2. The depth of CO2 bubbles for 10% sucrose at 0 minutes was 4 millimeters, 10 minutes was 6 millimeters, and 20 minutes was 6 millimeters. The circumference of the balloon for 10 minutes was 9 cm and 11 cm for 20 minutes. This should have been the most CO2 production due to the highest sucrose concentration.
