Hop-Frog

Hop-Frog is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe in 1849. It tells the tale of an unhappy dwarf who was kidnapped from his homeland and forced to serve as a court jester for a cruel king. The protagonist's name, Hop-Frog, reflects his physical condition; he is unable to walk normally and instead hops on all fours like a frog.
