Long Term versus Short Term: In the film Sisterhood of a Traveling Pants Carmen, Tibby, Bridget and Lena friendships are long term because they have been friends since they were babies. The four girls hang out most of the time and share personal information with each other but Tibby and Bailes’s friendship is short term because they only saw each other at work and they do not share personal information with each other, they mostly talk about their work together. Another reason why Tibby and Bailey friendship was short term is because Bailey passed away due to leukemia.
Relationship Oriented versus Task Oriented: In the film Sisterhood of a Traveling Pants, Tibby and Bailey friendship is task oriented because they only see each other when they are at work or working on their documentary film. The four girls friendships are relationship oriented because the girls enjoy doing activities outside of school together. They love going shopping together and going on vacation together.

Friends with Benefits: Friends with benefits are between friendship and romance and include sexual activity. Men and women are equally likely to be in FWB relationships. In the film The Sisterhood of a Traveling pants Bridget and Eric friendship led to romance. After becoming really good friends Bridget started having strong feelings for Eric, but Eric was concerned about their age difference. Eric is much older than Bridget, but Bridget did not mind the age difference. When Eric falls for Bridget too but regrets it when he and Bridget become intimate. He can’t get over their age difference and feels guilty for giving in to his feelings, but at the end they both decided to remind just friends at the end
