Youth Generations: The Echo Boomers

Generation “Y” has many things about them that makes them just a little different form all their predecessors. These people are known to be very ambitious, computer savvy, and exceedingly technically capable. But other than these three very prominent characteristics they have lower education standards, a feeling of entitlement and are extremely dependent of their parents. However with this unique combination of characteristics this large group of people has turned into an entire generation that strives to be so much more than its predecessors.
Generation “Y” defines the people that were born between the late 1970s and the early 1990’s, although in Australia it is strictly between 1983 and 2000. They have many names, such as Millennial, Generation We, the Echo Boomers, and the Peter Pan Generation. This generation is also the biggest out of any in history, with 76 million people growing up in it. With all of these people constantly thinking up new things there has to have been some good things to have come from it.
One of the main differences and possibly the biggest advantage that the youth of Generation “Y” has is the constant connection. The ability to talk to anyone; be it texting, e-mailing, or even video chatting, is something completely new. Although most of the instruments used to achieve these things, such as the phone and the computer, Generation “Y” used these ideas and ran with them. While the computer had been around for years before, the Echo Boomers (generation “Y”) created Facebook, Youtube, and many of the applications that people use everyday. ... ethic, for the most part its hard to blame them for how they were raised to believe they should be treated. Hopefully they will realize these negative traits and iron them out when they raise their children so that this is not as big of an issue for generation Z.
