Xin Niuyue (Newer York), is a bustling metropolis built on the ruins of New York City. During the late 21st century, NYC deteriorated due to the hubris of mankind and the continued overexploitation of natural resources. It became nothing more than a desolate wasteland. Following its demise the UN rebuilt the city to its former glory and renamed it Xin Niuyue, conforming to the UN’s primary language - Mandarin Chinese.
NYC is a low-lying city located on three islands at the mouth of the Hudson River. Its coastal location makes for an incredibly dense population. Even though all the cars, buses, and trains were supposed to be making the transportation system better, they did not. The engineers of the city decided to solve NYC’s road congestion issue to stop all of the transport problems branching from it, including commute time, overpopulation, movement of goods, traffic, and parking at the root. By doing this they were turning this deserted land into a thriving, successful, trade-based city.
To get rid of the congestion problem we have a simple solution. We will be getting rid of roads and all personal transit, and use the space left behind to create tracks for our mass transit. Our transit will use three main vehicles, each designed for a certain terrain, land (MagTrans), water (AquaTrans), and air (AirTrans). While the air and water vehicles will work like any other water and air transit, the MagTrans work using a powerful electromagnetic field produced by the track.

Since our city is mainly based on transportation, mechanical engineers are the ones who create our system while making sure our whole city is up to par.
Our city is an avant-garde and modern place to live . The movement of both goods and humans is streamlined and facilitated in Xin Niuyue. Pedestrians will easily move around the city with moving walkways that accommodate for both the lack of roads and for pervasive standardized mass transit. There will not be as much congestion as there is today. Our stratified city architecture will further reduce congestion while also lowering death rates and commute times. Xin Niuyue’s emphasis on better transportation makes for a better tomorrow.

Various aspects of traffic congestion in Toronto have been analyzed in detail. It is clear that Toronto is facing a serious problem of traffic congestion since it is the most congested city in North America. Traffic congestion in Toronto costs over $ 2 billion annually and it is caused by a variety of factors. These factors are categorized into non-recurring and recurring factors. However, the paper focused on recurring factors which contribute to the largest proportion of traffic congestion in Canada. These include increased automobile use, poor planning and lapse in implementation of laws which govern traffic systems. This leads to the use of many private cars by employees who commute to work as opposed to use of public transport systems resulting in congestion. Traffic congestion in Toronto has various adverse effects including barriers to emergency services, delays, idle time and opportunity costs as well as pollution.
The Chinese diaspora that initially settled in Vancouver has spread even further, to places like Richmond and Surrey, leaving Chinatown without the hustle and bustle As Chinatown's population ageing, non-Chinese businesses moving into the neighbourhood and condo projects underway, there are fears of gentrification and loss of its identity. In one of our photos, taken in the Dr. Sun Yat Shen Classical Chinese Garden, we can already see tall, newly developed buildings constructed on the edges of Chinatown. With all these new condos and business invading Chinatown, it is changing the community and the traditions in Chinatown that have been passed on for decades. Furthermore, the traditional language in Chinatown is disappearing. Cantonese is the traditional language of Chinese immigrants Canada. As such, its use reflects the tradition from home in China, the tradition of one's parents and grandparents, and the tradition of Chinatown. Chinatown’s history comes from all the racist policies that formed that community, those businesses — that’s where things were birthed out of, forming pieces that complete Chinatown. New York City’s population is a little over 8.3 million people. 8.3 million people are spread out among five boroughs and each have their own set routine. Each one of those 8.3 million see New York in a different way becuase “You start building your private New York the first time you lay eyes on it” (“City Limits” 4). Some people are like Colson Whitehead who “was born here and thus ruined for anywhere else” (“City Limits” 3). Others may have “moved here a couple years ago for a job. Maybe [they] came here for school” (“City Limits” 3). Different reasons have brought these people together. They are grouped as New Yorkers, but many times, living in New York is their only bond. With on going changes and never ending commotion, it is hard to define New York and its inhabitants in simple terms.
Finally, this paper will explore the “end product” that exists today through the works of the various authors outlined in this course and explain how Los Angeles has survived many decades of evolution, breaking new grounds and serving as the catalyst for an urban metropolis.
One World Trade Center (WTC) is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere measuring up at 1776 feet tall. The built output sets new standards of design, construction, and prestige. Its beauty in New York City’s magical skyline makes it an icon. It is the most recognised and desirable office address in the world. In 1950, only 13% of China’s population lived in cities (Seto, n.d.). Post 30 years, one hundred-million people moved to large cities from rural areas in China. This migration was considered the largest migration in human history. To compare this migration to western cities, the example of Shenzhen is used. For a Western city to have a population of three million to increase to ten million, it takes about a hundred years. 30-year old city, Shenzhen on the other hand made this population increase in just a decade (qtd. Caughey and Dawn). Today, over 53.7% of its population lives in cities; by 2020 it is projected that a whole 60% of the population will live in cities (Xinhuanet, 2014).
It is 1am on a summer Saturday night, the wind is gently blowing through your hair and your favorite song is playing on the radio. The stress of your daily, white-collar routine is left behind for just one night – a single evening out with your friends to catch up on the chaos of your lives. You cannot help but enjoy this rare crack in your hectic, nine-to-five schedule; a fleeting moment when everything feels right and you feel free. In the distance, you notice flashing lights. Thinking little of what they could mean, you continue your journey. Suddenly, you come face-to-face with one of the most despised enemies of urban life: traffic. As you slow to a grinding halt, you cannot help but feel irritation, anger and helplessness. It is ruined. Your one night is completely ruined. As you take your place in the endless parking lot that was once a four-lane highway, you realize that the source stoppage is a massive construction project. You look and hear them pound at the pavement with their jackhammers. Trying to control your frustration, you take a deep breath, exhale, and turn your head away. Again, you feel the victim of this deepening social crisis: the shortage of skilled workers.

Although this model of a sustainable city is not a perfectly closed loop, it lays the foundation for one that is. Over time, with constantly evolving and improving technology and new methods of design from the scale of products to buildings, the gaps in the loop could be closed, and a “true” sustainable city could be fully realized.
For formulating a more efficient transport pattern, there are some specific strategies. Firstly, government can encourage people to pay more attention to public transit. The actual data about transit use from most cities indicates that transit use is growing in many cities, in addition, some developed cities have been reducing their car use and pay more attention to the public transport (Newman, 1999). Most people take the urban public transportation system for granted. It is used in every aspect of our daily lives: work, education, medical necessities, recreation, etc. It is also important for the transportation of goods and services, which aids the growth and maintenance of our economy. Urban public transportation is the critical component of our quality of life and economic stability. The MBTA, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, is Boston and Eastern Massachusetts’s major transportation service. The MBTA has played a central role in the development of Boston and surrounding cities and towns for more than a century; providing service from 175 cities and towns into Boston. On an average weekday over 1.2 million trips are made on the subway, buses, commuter lines and other services in the mass transit system. With an international airport, a ship port, the highways, and the rail lines to connect regional cities and towns to national and international destinations and markets, Boston’s urban public transportation system has made the region’s growing role in the global economy possible.
The development of every nation hinges on the effectiveness of their transportation systems. Movement of goods, services and people to and from locations is made possible by transportation systems. The importance of effective transportation systems cannot be over-emphasized. Many countries face transportation problems and my country Ghana is no exception.
